Meet Liberty <br/><br/>Liberty's story is one of resilience, survival, and finally—freedom.<br/><br/>For weeks, this sweet girl lived in a rural shelter alongside her puppies, cowering in a concrete kennel and doing everything she could to protect her babies. Once a street dog, Liberty was completely shut down by the shelter environment. She was terrified, overwhelmed, and unsure of the people around her.<br/><br/>But Liberty persevered.<br/><br/>She waited for the day she would feel grass beneath her paws and see blue skies above her again. Finally, that day came. Thanks to incredible foster homes, Liberty and all of her puppies got their freedom rides and joined Bridge Between Animal Rescue to begin the next chapter of their lives.<br/><br/>For Liberty, learning how to be a dog again has taken time. She was very afraid of people, but little by little, she has learned that humans aren't so bad after all. Today, she enjoys gentle pets, a comfy bed in her crate, toys, and—more than anything—the companionship of other dogs.<br/><br/>Liberty finds confidence and security in her canine friends, so **at least one other dog is required in her forever home.** She'll need a patient, understanding adopter who is willing to let her move at her own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way.<br/><br/>Liberty is believed to be a young adult, around 23 years old, and weighs approximately 30 pounds. We aren't sure what breeds make up this beautiful girl, but her golden coat, funky ears, and adorable curly tail make her one-of-a-kind. One of her ears is missing a chunk—a reminder that she lived a life before rescue that we will never fully know. We can only imagine the hardships she endured before finding safety.<br/><br/>Liberty is heartworm positive and undergoing slow-kill treatment. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.<br/><br/>Liberty has spent enough of her life surviving.
