Libby Lou's Story
Libby Lou

Meet Libby Lou, a Great Dane with a personality as big as her breed suggests! She's sweet, curious, and full of energy.

Libby Lou's journey to us began when she was found in a neglectful situation with numerous other dogs. All of the dogs were emaciated and living in filth. Libby was a bag of bones weighing in at 56 pounds - luckily she’s gained great weight and looks absolutely amazing. She now weighs well over 100 pounds and is just beautiful.

Libby doesn’t quite understand she’s the size of a small horse and she 100% believes she is a lap dog - and she will show you that she is! She also does the “Libby lean” where she leans into you if you’re standing, so have your footing or you’ll both end up on the floor.

With Libby not understanding her own size, she would do best with no young kids, or folks prone to falling. She is house & kennel trained, but does really well in her own bedroom unkenneled. She’s destroyed a roll of paper towels (not sure what they did to upset her), but has otherwise left everything else alone and is content lying on her bed with a filled bone.
It was initially believed she was deaf, but it’s been determined she just has very selective hearing - she knows sit & down, and is very treat motivated.
Libby LOVES food - after her start in life not being fed, this is no surprise. It’s best she’s fed separately from other pets; so she doesn’t feel her food source is threatened.
She’s done well with multiple dogs (with proper intros) but again, not knowing her size, small dogs are a no. She struggles really knowing how to “dog”, playing is very awkward for her, but she does enjoy it. She wary of new people, especially men, and she will bark at them in a protective manner. Once you’ve gained her trust, you’re in her circle for life.
She enjoys walks, pup cups, and would need a 6 foot or higher fenced yard.

She’s looking for a new adventure with a family that appreciates her playful spirit. Independent yet loyal, Libby Lou has a knack for turning everyday moments into comedic gold. With her goofy antics and friendly nature, she's sure to bring laughter and joy to her forever home.
