Lia's Story

Meet Lia!

This adorable pup is one of 9 adorable new low-riding pups who just arrived in Bend, Oregon all the way from Tijuana, Mexico! These charming little dogs are believed to be Chihuahua and possibly Dachshund mixes - the perfect combination of tiny, scruffy, long-bodied cuteness that some might lovingly call "chiweenies." With their short legs, big personalities, and adorable faces, it's safe to say this crew is already stealing hearts.

****Foster Update 7/7****
Cats: hasn't officially met any, but she does bark at the ones we see on walks.
Activity Level: active for such a tiny dog, we walk 3-4 times a day for 15-30 min and she is barely tired after the 30 min.
Training & Manners
House/Potty Trained: yes! No issues.
Crate Trained: Yes
Leash Skills: still learning a bit
Commands Known: none yet but working on it
Food/Treat Motivation: absolutely!

Lia is a very sweet girl! She was a bit timid and scared the first few days, but after that she warmed up it's been nothing but loves since. She likes slow introductions and we're working onto exposing her to lots of nice new people. She seems to get along with kids and other small dogs. She is a little unsure of bigger dogs and barks at the random cats on our walks.

Their story began after their owner sadly passed away in Tijuana. Thankfully, compassionate local rescuers stepped in to ensure these dogs were brought to safety and given a second chance at life. Now, they've officially made it to the Pacific Northwest, and we're so excited to be part of their next chapter as they begin the journey toward finding loving forever homes. At this time, these pups are just settling into our care and we're still learning more about their individual personalities, temperaments, and needs. We're currently working through their medical and veterinary care and coordinating temporary foster homes while they continue decompressing and preparing for adoption. As we receive more updates from foster families, we'll continue sharing more about each of these adorable little dogs and their unique personalities. If you've been thinking about adding a sweet new companion to your life, now is the perfect time to submit your adoption application and join their general interest list while they complete the final steps toward adoption readiness.

Will you be this pup's lucky new hero?

PupFax: Lia
Adoption Status: Cleared and Ready!
Medical Clearance: Yes
Medical Status: Cleared
Location: Bend/Central Oregon
Rescue Intake Type: Rescue/International

At-a-Glance Stats
Breed: Mixed breed
Size: Small
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Yes
Microchipped: Yes
(Each adoption includes their wellness check, vaccinations (core shots), microchip and spay/neuter, which will be done before we can send them home with their adopter.)

Home & Lifestyle Fit
People: Good
Dogs: Good
Cats: hasn't officially met any, but she does bark at the ones we see on walks.
Activity Level: active for such a tiny dog, we walk 3-4 times a day for 15-30 min and she is barely tired after the 30 min.
Training & Manners
House/Potty Trained: yes!
