LEYLA- WASHINGTON's Story

*PETFINDER INQUIRIES WILL NOT BE ANSWERED. PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION AFTER READING HIS FULL ADOPTION LISTING. THE ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

Meet Lovely Leyla a 9-month-old 40 lb. female Labradoodle puppy, who is in an IDOG foster home in Seattle, Washington.

FAST FACTS ABOUT LOVELY LEYLA:

*AGE: 9 months old (born September 2025)

*WEIGHT: 40 lbs. she needs to gain a few more lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required. Leyla loves the freedom that she has to run around as much as she wants in the fosters fenced back yard. Her recall isnt great yet so we think she does need a fenced yard for her future success. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success.

*COAT TYPE: Soft curly/wavy, lower-shedding coat. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often to prevent matting and have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: Medium-high energy. She is still a puppy even though she looks full grown and will require obedience training, continued socialization, lots of mental stimulation and daily exercise. She does jump a little when shes excited/youre just returning home. She loves fetching and playing with toys, and especially tennis balls. She currently walks 3-4 miles a day (an hour walk). She does settle and is very content to nap while her foster mom is working. She will go to bed when you do. She sleeps in a crate in the bedroom.

*DOGS: Yes! She has loved all dogs she has been around. The foster home has 2 dogs and she does well with them. She plays at the level of the dog. She would do well with a calm dog sibling to show her the ropes as she does get spooked by things and her foster brother has been good about teaching her not to be afraid.

*CATS: Seems ok. She has seen them on walks and was curious but didnt seem to want to chase. But we dont know how she would be with a resident cat.

*KIDS: Yes! Previous caretaker stated that she LOVES kids. She currently is in a home with an 11 year old and she follows her around the house and loves her to pieces.

*CAR: She does well in the car!

*CRATE: Sometimes barks when first put in the crate but does settle fine in 5-10 min. Especially if you give her treats when you put in her. She goes to sleep well at night in the crate without fuss.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Getting there; she still has accidents. She just needs consistency and lots of rewards for going outside and she will catch on completely. She is getting better with going on command but doesn't yet understand how to ask to go out.

*LEASH: She needs leash training but loves going for walks.

*WITH GROOMING: She allows her foster mom to brush and comb her fine and is generally a pushover as long as she's getting love. She will be groomed in the next week as her coat is matted to the skin.

*AT VET: GREAT!

*VETTING: Leyla is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and almost house-trained. She is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives.

MORE ABOUT LOVELY LEYLA:

Leyla is a silly and smart 9-month-old female Labradoodle puppy who weighs 40lbs. She was rehomed by her family that loved her very much but felt they could not meet her exercise and grooming needs. They wanted sweet Leyla to have the best life with a forever family who has the time to care for her needs.

Leyla is very sweet and loving! She is a very happy, wiggly, friendly, playful bouncy girl. She loves tennis balls, and will play happily with them by herself, but loves it even more if you play catch and fetch with her. She is very floppy and clumsy as she is a growing girl and will sometimes trip up the stairs but it doesnt stop her from keeping up with her foster siblings.

She will need some obedience training, as she listens but doesnt know more than sit and her name...she is currently working on stay and free while waiting for her food and is a quick learner even when excited to eat! She is a really good dog and needs a good family and a yard to frolic in. She is such a goofy, fun and lovable girl and needs a family willing to put in the work for her to reach her potential of being the best girl ever!

She has very little recall so will need a fenced yard and to be trained before being trusted off leash. She does the cutest things...like she actually watches TV! She is incredibly lovable. Leyla loves everybody; we have not seen one bit of aggression towards people or dogs

She may bark initially out of excitement or because she needs socialization. If she sees someone sitting on the ground or in an unfamiliar pose that shes not used to she gets wary but once she realizes its ok she warms right up.

She is good in the car but it isn't her favorite thing so needs some coaxing to get in. Once in the car she doesn't vocalize or whine, but she is a little stressed.

IDEAL TYPE OF HOME:
She will need someone who is a patient experienced dog parent to finish her training and socialization since she finds random things scary and will bark when she gets spooked. An experienced dog parent with an older calm balanced dog to show her the ropes would be a great home for her.
-Fenced yard where she is able to run and play.
-Owner who is able to walk and ensure her exercise needs are met.

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

Adjectives that describe Leyla:
*Friendly
*Cuddly
*Playful
*Adorable
*Sweet
*Excitable
*Loving
*Exuberant
*Hilarious
*Smart
*Goofy

Activities she enjoys:
-Fetch!!
-Playing with dogs
-Chewing on toys
-Munching on chews like yak cheese or bully sticks
-Walks
-Snuggles
-Playing
-Eating

A few needs work items for Leyla:
*obedience commands
*counter surfing
*house training

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Leylas listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Leyla, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Leyla, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Leyla. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.

*You can check the status of her adoption at www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Leyla before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $650

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR LEYLA-WASHINGTON, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
