Lexi's Story

None of our volunteers believe we have her age right, but little Lexie is reported to be 16 years old! She really does act much younger, and can walk two miles with ease. Her bloodwork shows that she has pituitary-dependent Cushing's Disease, but she does not need any treatment at this time.

Lexi is reported to be sweet and gentle, and an excellent walker who enjoys her "sniffy time" outside. She is a little reactive on leash if she comes across a dog that starts barking at her. She did not enjoy her dog introduction here at the shelter, so we think she would prefer to be the only dog in the home. She might be able to live with a dog-savvy cat and gentle kids.

Whatever her age may be, Lexi still has tons of zest for life and will make an awesome walking buddy for someone looking for a happy little senior companion.

We do NOT respond to PetFinder inquires; we only respond to emails sent to adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org regarding adoption inquires.

We never know how quickly a pet will be adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in a pet but want to see them during our shelter open hours prior to filling out an application, we strongly recommend that you email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org before visiting the shelter to ensure they are still there.

Open hours are Wednesdays 1:30-6pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 10am-2pm for you to come view our adoptable pets. You can apply for animal at the shelter during our open hours or online by emailing adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org and asking for an application. Adoption fees allow our non-profit to continue to help pets in need.

Meet and greets with animals are scheduled after applications have been processed and we’ve determined you are the best fit. We do not operate on a first come, first served basis.

Our Adoption Process Please note our adoption application process is not on a first come, first serve basis. When you first arrive at our shelter, you will be asked to fill out a brief survey, which helps us to find the right pet for you. Our adoption counselors act as “matchmakers” and will work with you to find the right match - for both you and the animal - based on the information you have given us. If you don't find a match right away, we will hold your survey on file for several months while you continue your search.
