Lewis's Story

Say hello to LEWIS! We call him Mr. Personality because he has such a happy temperament and he loves everyone he meets. He's a 1 year old Super-Mutt....we think he's a Terrier and Staffie mix but only thing for certain is he's a 100% lovebug. He has beautiful markings and is fully grown at 30 pounds so he's a perfect medium sized pup. He gets along great with other dogs and loves to play and chase tennis balls. You can see in his videos he's a social butterfly and loves to give and get affection. He's a very smart guy who listens and obeys well. He walks very well on a leash and loves to go for car rides and adventures. He's living with a great Foster Mom and her pups and she says it's a party every day. Lewis is healthy, neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations and both housebroken and crate trained. All he needs is a loving and fun family who will give him a happy life! We think he'd LOVE a doggie sibling but not a must if he gets good exercise and has an opportunity to play with other pups. Fenced in yard would be great too. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on this sweet guy!!

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
