Lettie 22664's Story

Puppy Mill Survivor - Experienced Owner Required

This sweet girl is a puppy mill survivor who is still learning what it means to feel safe and be a dog. Because of her past, she will need an experienced, patient, and understanding owner who is willing to give her the time and space she needs to build confidence.

The outside world is still very scary for her. Even with a fully fenced yard, she is anxious about being outdoors. When she is taken outside, she may stand anxiously at the door, hide under patio furniture, or stay close to her person while looking frightened. If given the opportunity, she quickly heads back inside to her safe space.

House training is also a work in progress. She currently does not relieve herself outside, but she reliably uses washable potty pads placed throughout the house.

While she has a long way to go, she is making small steps forward every day. With patience, consistency, and a loving home, we hope to see her continue to gain confidence and discover the security and comfort she has always deserved.

She will do best with an adopter who understands the effects of puppy mill life and is prepared to celebrate the little victories along the way. She may be a work in progress, but she is worth it.
