LESTER

MEET LESTER….aka as “Dexter the arrester” because he will grab your heart and not let go! Weighing in at 17 lbs, this 3 yr old, tri colored Shih Tzu has not had an easy start at life. Dad passed away and he was left with a family with medical issues and could not care for him. SO…. relatives in Dallas flew to SF, drove to him in Sacramento, then to L.A. to deliver him to us, then back to Dallas. THAT’S love!<br/><br/>Once here, we learned Lester had a double ear and eye infection, both treated and he’s doing great. Treating his eyes is a breeze — he does have slight dry eye and will need meds until it is resolved, maybe forever. Treating his ears can be a little challenging, but he gets used to it. He really is a wonderful pup who needs to feel safe. Loves to play, chase balls and fetch! Loves to be near you and get attention, sometimes demands it and will make little gremlin noises to get it (especially at dinner)! He will sit at your feet, sleep on your lap and be close to you in bed. He’s a big snuggler!<br/><br/>Lester will replace any alarm system and will bark to alert. He will stand between you and the noise to let you know he’s your protector. Does have some resource guarding tendencies with food/toys — who likes anyone’s hands in their food!? He needs savvy parents who have dealt with stubborn Shih Tzu and will give him the time, training and patience he deserves. Needs to be reminded who the boss is!<br/><br/>Ideal home will be with or without another dog, family (no kids) who work remote and can give him lots of attention. Told he was potty trained, but we never guarantee! Loves his walks and wants to please. As he gets more comfortable, he gets more protective of his food and toys…he needs a family who understand parameters and will work with him. If you’re looking for a best friend, look no farther!
