LESTER's Story

THE MOST GORGEOUS EYES WITH A GENTLE PERSONALITY TO MATCH.

Lester is just such a gentle soul.

We found Lester wandering around on the Yakama Indian Reservation back when he was about 4 months old. He was dumped or wandered away from someone who didn't care, and had taken up residence with a rescue supporter, who's own dogs, were not feeling like being friendly. All Lester wanted to do, was follow her husband around their substantial property and loved it when he got acknowledgment and pets on the head. Not wanting him to come to any harm, either by her dogs or the busy road by their property, she called us and we fell in love with his easy going way of living and loaded him up.

We have been sitting on this big guy, for several months, allowing him to grow good strong bone and muscles, before neutering him. In a perfect world, he probably should have been at least another year older, but we just cannot sit on them that long, so after a vet evaluation, it was deemed he was grown and strong enough, at 10 months old, to undergo the procedure.

We have no idea if Lester has a stitch of Anatolian Shepherd in him and a donated DNA test kit, was recently sent off, so we could be more sure, but he definitely has the soulful, black lined eyes of the Anatolian, the easy going manner of an Anatolian and, as he begins to mature, is starting to show a protective bone as well. Potential adopters should understand the genetics of the livestock guardian type dogs and welcome them. Most livestock guarding breeds are loving and gentle with their family and animals but are very wary of strangers, human or animal.

Lester has many attributes, which include crate trained, leash savvy, good traveler, good with cats, dogs, kids and horses and has a beautiful, soft coat that is just soothing to touch. And speaking of touch, there is nothing that Lester loves more, than being loved on. He has an adorable, "Aw Shucks" type personality but as mentioned previously, we would caution that as a suspected LGD (livestock guarding dog) his personality could and probably will become more protective and selective, as he ages. He is mostly housebroken as long as he is given ample opportunity to do his business outside. It is where he would prefer to go potty but he is still trying to figure out, how to let you know. At this point in his potty training, errors are largely human created, for failure to get him out often enough.

Lester currently weighs 60lbs and is all knees and elbows. In other words, he is gangling and a wee bit awkward. In human terms, he would be that tween, leaving boyhood for manhood, trying to figure out how to control and take advantage of all the changes happening with his body. Given that he is ten months old and only 60lbs, it is unlikely he will be as big as an Anatolian Shepherd, at full maturity, which may be to his advantage. Plus, his face is just freaking adorable and he loves to lay it in your lap and stare at you adoringly, with those dreamy, black lined, big brown eyes.

PLUS, just look at that big grinning, happy face. How can you have a bad day, with Lester's brilliant happy personality, right by your side.

If Lester sounds like the guy for you, please go to our website at www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org/adoption and submit the application. Please note that interest submitted using the Petfinder links, will only let us know you are interested and do not take the place of our own application.

Lester is neutered, microchipped, up to date on five way and rabies vaccines, was tested and treated for intestinal parasites and is flea and tick free. He is healthy, beautiful inside and out, super gentle and responsive, loyal and loving and would make a very nice family dog.

Adoption fee $350

PLEASE NOTE*:

* We require notes from certified doctors when
requesting a dog as an ESA
*Inquiries submitted through Petfinder, are not the
same as applications submitted through our webpage.
*Yes we do out of state adoptions.
*No, we do not transport. All Mutts Great and Small's Adoption Policy
We believe there are many different ways to be a successful dog owner. It is our intent to broaden the idea of happy dog/person relationships to go beyond the traditional. Our goal is to place people and dogs together with the intent being compatibility. We know these dogs and we want to match them with the person who will provide them with the best possible life. One they would have chosen themselves had they been able too. We do NOT have a standard list of "must haves", preferring to match dog with adopter. www.allmuttsgreatandsmall.org
