Meet Leroy Dixie

Please read Leroy Dixie's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application. Thank you!**

This good-looking fellow is Leroy Dixie, a just over 3-year-old, 63-pound, Blue Tick Coonhound mix with an easy-going attitude toward life. He is been waiting a long time to find his forever family...more than 200 days! And this boy deserves to start his forever much sooner than this.

Leroy Dixie is a happy go lucky guy who is enjoying a second chance on life. He was found by a traveler by the side of the road, emaciated, and covered in fleas. Poor boy!!!

Leroy loves the outdoors and long walks through the woods. His foster says "His houndness makes him a great companion for long walks and getting to sniff along the way is a huge reward for him! It's like taking him to the candy store where he gets to sample everything!" But as you can see by the video - he sniffs and keeps going.

He will be a good companion and just needs someone to show him the ropes.

Leroy was heartworm positive when he came into rescue but has completed his treatment and does not have any further restrictions. He will need monthly heart worm prevention to stay healthy - just like any dog would. He has no medical issues as a result and it will not effect his life going forward in any way.

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Leroy Dixie, you must fill out an adoption application.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT.

If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM
