LEONA's Story

This petite lil’ gal is LEONA, a 2 year old female that was surrendered to us so that she could find a home that was more suitable for her. We believe LEONA didn’t have the best home life because when she first came to us, she was pretty scared, timid and would cower when you approached her. She warmed up quickly to female staff and has warmed up to male staff as well but it took her a little longer with them. She’s the absolute sweetest little cuddle bug and just adores her people that give her lots of love and attention. She just needs someone gentle, calm and can give her the reassurance that she needs. But she also needs someone that will take her out and play with her because she LOVES running around in the yard and going wild. Loud noises and quick movements still make her a little nervous so an adult only home with no young children would be best for her. She does bark at strangers but we’ve determined her reactions to things is all fear based and it will take time to build her confidence up in a home. She would also do best as the only dog in the home as she seems to be selective on her doggy friends, she’s either totally okay with them or not at all so it would just be best to build trust and confidence on her own so that she is set up for success and not failure. Cats are unknown at this time.
