Leo's Story

Hi! My name is Leo, and I'm looking for a forever home where I can continue learning, playing, and being my silly little self!

I was picked up as a stray by animal control and taken to a super scary place called a shelter. After my hold time was up, I was in danger of being placed on something very bad called “the list.” Luckily for me, BCAA said YES to helping me! Thank goodness, because the vet says I'm only about 5–6 months old, and I have my whole life ahead of me!

I appear to be some type of scruffy terrier mix and weighed about 20 pounds when I first went to the vet. We think I'll stay a medium-sized dog when I'm all grown up.

I'm a sweet, playful guy who loves people, attention, treats, breakfast, dinner, and pretty much anything fun! I can still be a little skittish, especially when something is new or unfamiliar, but I'm settling in more every day. My foster mom says I'm also getting very good at getting into EVERYTHING—which apparently is what puppies do!

I absolutely love other dogs! I've gotten along with dogs of all sizes, and I especially love my little foster dog friend. I think having another confident, playful dog in my forever home could really help me come out of my shell and feel comfortable even faster. I've also shown no interest in cats so far.

When I first arrived in foster, I had a couple of accidents in my crate, but once I figured out that there was a schedule and I'd be getting outside regularly, I caught on quickly and have been doing so much better! I'm also learning about this whole leash thing and doing pretty well—especially when treats are involved!

I'm still a puppy, so I'll need a family who is ready to keep teaching me, give me plenty of appropriate outlets for my energy, and help me build confidence as I grow.

If you're looking for a sweet, scruffy, playful puppy with a little bit of goofy mischief thrown in, Leo might just be your guy!

If you'd like to learn more about Leo or meet him, please fill out an application at www.bcaaofnj.org.
