Leo's Story

Hi everyone. I am two-year-old Leo. I am a bright, eager, and energetic boy who loves belly rubs, snuggles, play, and a running partner. Eager to please, I have come a very long way at foster. To understand how far, you need to know where I began.

I spent the first year of my young life chained in a makeshift shelter – exposed to the elements – and to every critter or dog that crossed my path. Unable to defend myself, my food, or my ramshackle home…the dog police came and said I deserved better. Somehow, I never lost my faith in people who I greet with wagging tail and a grateful heart. But not so with other dogs or creatures. For the past six months I have been through an extensive training program at my foster home, and with other dogs in a professional program. It has served me well. I know live with other dogs at my foster home! While there is still work to be done, I am ready to do that in a forever home.

While this form offers yes or no about "good with other dogs and kids" - I'll tell you that I CAN be good with other dogs with thoughtful and slow introductions. And I think older kids would be great.

I thrive with structure, clear expectations, and lots of physical and mental stimulation. I’m an awesome running partner, loyal companion, adventurer, and total goofball! The person I need is dog-skilled. Patient. And alert to my surroundings. Someone who appreciates the challenge and reward of building a lasting bond with a brilliant, people-loving pup who is anxious to turn the page on the past and begin a second chapter together.
