Leo's Story

Meet Leo Rescue Plea Graduate and Polite Manners
My Past
Hi. I’m Leo. I’m 31⁄2 years old and I came in as a rescue plea. That part sounds dramatic, but honestly? I think I used to belong to someone. I know commands. I understand house rules. I don’t act like a dog who’s never lived inside before.
When I first got here, I was scared. Of everything. New people, new sounds, new dogs. It was a lot. But once I realized I was safe, I started relaxing... and that’s when the real me showed up.
My Personality
I’m what you’d call a well-rounded bulldog gentleman. I play great with other dogs. I love tug-of-war. I’ll chase the ball like it’s my job. And sometimes? I’ll just grab a ball and entertain myself because I can. Independent king behavior.
My absolute favorite game is keep-away. I grab something important, trot off proudly, and make everyone work for it. It’s strategic. It’s athletic. It’s art.
I’m gentle with my people. If you bend down, I’ll give you kisses. I’m not constantly jumping in your face, and I’m not clingy. I just like being near you. Existing in the same space. Supervising.
I could reach the counters if I wanted to. I’m tall enough. But I don’t. Because I have manners.
The couch? Yes. That’s mine now, it’s a complete take over! I’m a big guy what do you expect!
Smart, Goofy & Full of Character
I have that classic bulldog face — expressive, a little dorky, always plotting something fun. But I’m actually pretty smart. I understand routines. I listen. I adjust.
I used to jump on humans sometimes, but since being neutered I’ve really toned that down. I don’t jump on dogs. I play appropriately. I bring fun energy without being chaos.
Health & My Best Life
Good news — I have no medical issues. I’m healthy. I’m thriving. I’m fully embracing this “living my best life” era. I love when it’s food time and I enjoy all the snacks my foster dad gives me especially the cheese and little peanut butter cups. Literally I can lick at those until the days ends! My potty training is great I know the doggy door and I just fit!!
I’m not over-the-top. I’m not overwhelming. I’m just a genuinely sweet, fun-loving bulldog who knows how to play hard and lounge harder.
All I need now is someone who looks at me — couch hog tendencies and all — and says, “That’s my boy.”
Foster Pupdate:
Leo is such a cool dude. Seriously. The kind of dog that just walks into a room and somehow fits right in.
He absolutely loves the other bullies in my house — Darla and Harvey have been incredible foster siblings to him. They’ve shown him the ropes, and he’s soaking it all up like a pro. He plays respectfully, reads their cues, and genuinely enjoys having dog friends around.
I’ve fostered English Bulldogs before, and I can honestly say Leo is by far one of the easiest, most gentle guys I’ve come across — second only to sweet Chomps. He has that classic bulldog energy... yes, he can be a bit of a bull in a china shop at times — but somehow he does it with manners and grace. It’s impressive, really.
He’s affectionate without being overwhelming, playful without being chaotic, and just has that steady, good-boy presence that makes him such an easy addition to the pack.
Leo is the kind of dog that would thrive in a home that appreciates a laid-back, loving bulldog with just enough goofy charm to keep things interesting.
We’re pretty obsessed with him over here.
Leo is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped; his adoption donation fee is $1100.00. you can apply for Leo at freedomfrenchierescue.org and he is being fostered in Scottsdale, AZ.
