Leo's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

If you’re looking for a dog overflowing with personality, playfulness, and pure Boston Terrier charm, Leo might be the perfect match for you! This energetic 51⁄2‑year‑old boy is exuberant in all the best ways and believes toys are life. If it squeaks, rolls, or bounces, Leo is instantly smitten.

⭐ What Leo Needs

Leo thrives in an active home where he can channel his enthusiasm into play, exercise, and fun. Because his excitement can get the best of him, he’s looking for a home without young children, as his rambunctious bursts of joy may be overwhelming for little ones.

He’ll benefit from consistent, gentle boundary training to help him manage his low excitement threshold and occasional dominant tendencies. He’s a smart, willing learner—he just needs someone who can guide him with calm, steady leadership.

Leo & Other Dogs

Leo needs time to decompress and settle into his new environment before meeting any resident pets. That adjustment period is critical for him. After he’s comfortable, introductions should be slow, structured, and intentional—and we’re more than happy to guide you through the process.

While he previously lived with other Bostons and Frenchies and reportedly did well, he has shown some dominant behaviors since coming into rescue. Because of this, Leo may do best as an only dog. That said, with consistent training and clear direction, we believe he could adjust to living with other dogs.

❤ï ̧ His Softer Side

While Leo is full of energy and excitement, he also has a wonderfully sweet, affectionate side. Once he’s finally tired out and his brain has quieted, he loves nothing more than snuggling up for a good cuddle. Those cozy moments are where his gentle heart really shines.

Why Leo Is Worth It

Leo is joyful, spirited, and endlessly entertaining. With the right balance of structure, activity, and decompression time, he’ll become an incredibly loyal companion who keeps you laughing—and melts into your lap when the day winds down.

If you’re ready for a playful, toy-loving, cuddle-ready best friend, Leo is waiting in North Texas with a full vetting history and a whole lot of love to give.

American Boston Terrier Rescue's Adoption Policy
Adoption Process Out of state adoption policy: We are located in Dallas, TX. We will adopt some of our dogs out of state, depending on their situation and needs; however, it is our policy not to ship dogs. This means we do not fly them via cargo nor do we utilize paid ground transport. Adopters may drive to Dallas to adopt their dogs, or they may fly them in-cabin on an airplane (via an airline that accepts Boston Terriers in the cabin). All transport costs are at the adopter's expense. Applying to adopt: Complete the application in its entirety. If there is anything that you think we need to know that is not asked on the application or you have certain requirements or traits you are looking for in a dog, please put it in the “Other Comments” section of the application. Reference Check: We will contact your personal and veterinarian references. If those pass, then a home visit will be arranged. One of our volunteers will visit you in your home to ensure that a good match is made for you and that you have proper accommodations for the dog you are interested in. Personal Interview: We will contact you via phone at a time that is convenient for you. This interview lasts around 45 minutes with the purpose of getting to know you in addition to sharing our policies and answering questions you may have. We also discuss your home and expectations for the dog so we can be sure you adopt a Boston that is a great fit for you and him/her! Home Visit: If your home visit passes, then you are approved to adopt from ABTRR!
