Lentil's Story
Lentil has packed a lot of living into her life so far - she has been transferred from a rescue in California (with no history or paperwork!) to one in Spokane, Washington, where she was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition. From there she was transferred to Wayward Creatures as the rescue she was at couldn't commit to the costs of her needed surgery.

She's since had surgery at WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital Cardiology Service to fix her PDA (Persistent Ductus Arteriosis) which was causing blood to bypass important areas of the heart/lung system and just last week got the all-clear at her 3 month follow-up that the PDA is closed and her heart chamber sizes have significantly improved, so she should be good to go with a normal life expectancy. She has also been back to the rescue in Spokane to have those pesky little ovaries removed.

Now she's looking for a perfect home for an enthusiastically friendly Chihuahua/miniature Pinscher/poodle/Pomeranian/Cocker spaniel! (Yes, we did DNA testing for fun, and got several surprises in those results.

Lentil gets along great with her foster "auntie" dogs and cats, and drags me over to meet every new person she sees on walks. She probably can't be trusted with chickens (unfortunately one of the aunties has taught her that chasing them is fun). She does great in the car, even for all-day road trips, and is fantastic at working puzzle feeders. She is accustomed to being kenneled for meals, and will race to put herself in her kennel before the puzzle toy is there. She is getting better about house training, but I can't really claim she's trustworthy on that quite yet.

A very active pup, Lentil would love a home with a large fenced yard, and/or someone who is looking for a companion for long walks or jogging. I have not tried to train her on any specific agility obstacles, but I bet she would love it if someone introduced her to it. She certainly loves racing in circles and around obstacles with the other dogs. When she's done with rowdy days, she settles quickly inside (preferably in a lap) and enjoys cuddling in bed at night.

For more information about adopting Lentil, please contact Jes at docjesadams@gmail.com, or 509-690-7343.
