PLEASE READ ALL WAY TO END"

THE ADOPTION APPLICATION IS LOCATED ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

Meet Lovely Lennie Lennon, a 2-year-old 52 lb. female Goldendoodle, who is in an IDOG foster home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

FAST FACTS about LENNIE:

*AGE: 2 years old (born July 2024)

*WEIGHT: 52 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence & yard are required. Lennie has a lot of energy & in addition to regular walks, would benefit from outdoor play time with her family. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success.

*COAT TYPE: Soft wavy, lower-shedding coat. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often to prevent matting & have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: High energy. She is technically not a puppy but her personality is still very much like a puppy. She will require obedience training, continued socialization, lots of mental stimulation, & daily exercise. She does jump a little when she's excited/you're just returning home. Her energy level means she will need a calm environment so that she can learn how to relax when its time to relax. Lennie loves fetching & playing with all toys, & especially tennis balls. She currently walks 3-4 miles a day (broken up into morning & evening walks). Her foster family feeds her using a Kong so that she gets even more mental stimulation. She immediately understood how to dig her food out of the Kong & she loves that time spent working on her food. With proper exercise & mental stimulation, she settles & is very content to nap while her foster mom is working. She goes to bed when you go to bed. She loves sleeping in her crate during the day & also at night in the bedroom.

*DOGS: Yes! She has loved all dogs she has been around. The foster home has one dog & she does well with her. She plays at the level of Hazel (& they both learned how to adjust their play to make this work). Hazel & Lennie are fabulous playing together. Lennie would do well with a calm but also playful dog sibling to show her the ropes as she does get spooked by things & her foster sister Hazel has been good about teaching her not to be afraid.

*CATS: Seems ok. She has seen them on walks & was curious but didnt seem to want to chase. But, we dont know how she would be with a resident cat.

*KIDS: Yes. She currently is in a foster home with a 15 year old child. Because Lennie is so excitable, it is recommended she be matched with a family with older children (over 13) who are mature enough to teach Lennie manners & to remain calm around her.

*CAR: She does well in the car!

*CRATE: She loves her crate & goes in there on her own. She gets excited especially if you give her treats when she goes in the crate. She goes to sleep well at night in the crate without fuss.

*HOUSE TRAINED: She is house trained but she still has accidents when in new situations or if really excited. She just needs consistency & lots of rewards for going outside & she will catch on completely. She is getting better with going on comm& but doesn't yet understand how to ask to go out.

*LEASH: Her foster mom has been walking her now on a leash for 6 weeks, & she is getting better every day. She loves going for walks. She has a strong prey drive on the walk (for squirrels, rabbits, & birds), so she will need continued training to desensitize her to these temptations.

*WITH GROOMING: She allows her foster mom to brush & comb her fine & is generally a pushover as long as she's getting love. She will be groomed in the next week.

*AT VET: Great but very excited. Her biggest issue is the excitement level so we recommend lots of exercise before a vet visit & then using high valued treats as a reward for good behavior. She has a follow up appointment with the vet in two weeks.

*VETTING: Lennie is spayed, microchipped, is current on core vaccines & house-trained (with exceptions noted). She is now on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives.

MORE ABOUT LENNIE:
Lennie is a silly & smart 2-year-old female Labradoodle who weighs 52 lbs. She was rehomed by her family that loved her very much, but felt they could not meet her exercise needs. They wanted sweet Lennie to have the best life with a forever family who has the time to care for her needs.

Lennie is very sweet & loving! She is a very happy, enthusiastic, affectionate, alert, wiggly, friendly, playful bouncy girl. She loves tennis balls, & will play happily with them by herself, but loves it even more if you play catch & fetch with her. She is very floppy & clumsy & will sometimes trip up the stairs but it doesnt stop her from keeping up with her foster sibling.

She will need some obedience training. She listens & is very responsive to the human voice. She knows her name, she knows sit, touch, & is very quickly learning leave it (which is an excellent comm& to teach her). She has excellent recall. She comes to me whenever I call her! She is a really good dog & needs an active but calm family & a yard to frolic in. Lennie is such a goofy, fun, & lovable girl & needs a family willing to put in the work for her to reach her potential of being the best girl ever!

She does the cutest things...like she actually watches TV! She is incredibly lovable. When she first arrived at her foster home, Lennie showed affection by licking her familys h&s. After a few weeks, she started to give smooches on the face. Now, she loves to show her affection towards her foster family & also toward her doggie foster sister, Hazel.

Lennie sometimes barks initially out of excitement or because she needs socialization. If she sees someone sitting on the ground or in an unfamiliar pose that she's not used to she gets wary but once she realizes its ok she warms right up. She is good in the car but & needs zero coaxing to get in. She really loves jumping into the car to go on a new adventure!

IDEAL TYPE OF HOME:
She will need someone who is a patient experienced dog parent to finish her training & socialization since she finds random things scary & will bark when she gets spooked. An experienced dog parent with an older calm balanced & playful dog to show her the ropes would be a great home for her.
-Fenced yard where she is able to run & play.
-Owner who is able to walk & ensure her exercise needs are met.

After adoption, we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

Adjectives that describe Lennie:
*Friendly
*Enthusiastic
*Alert
*Affectionate
*Playful
*Adorable
*Sweet
*Excitable
*Loving
*Exuberant
*Hilarious
*Smart
*Goofy
*Malleable (she adjusts to the humans demeanor & instructions)

Activities Lennie enjoys:
-Fetch!
-Playing with dogs
-Chewing on toys
-Munching on chews like yak cheese or bully sticks
-Walks
-Snuggles
-Playing
-Eating

A few needs work items for Lennie:
*obedience commands (she is food driven & a people pleaser so this is actually going to come easy for her)
*counter surfing (she is getting much better with this)
*house training (she just needs to learn the new environment & have consistent potty trips)

ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Lennie's listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.

*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Lennie, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).

*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Lennie, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org.

*You must complete our adoption application fully. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers & have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. *You must be approved to adopt Lennie before we schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.

ADOPTION FEE: $595

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR LENNIE-PENNSYLVANIA, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application
