Lena American Staffordshire Terrier Mix Chilmark, MA

Lena arrived at NYCACC - The New York City Animal Care Centers- The city's municipal shelter as a stray in October . She was very fearful so listed as "rescue only". A amazing woman stepped up to save her life.

Lena is an active, high energy young dog. She would prefer someone who works
from home, or she could go to work with, and she doesn’t like to be alone for long
stretches of time. Lena needs to be introduced to other dogs slowly, but she then
warms up, shares well and loves to play.

Lena loves the beach, loves to chase the ball, but doesn’t always bring it back. She loves to run. She chases birds, and she likes to ride in the car. She plays hard with any and all toys. She loves to be petted and have her chest and ears scratched.

Lena is currently careful with other dogs, but not aggressive. I think with
experience she will warm up-she loves to play. She needs to continue to work on
her leash walking skills, as she seems to have little experience with leashes.

Lena is a sweet, striking, and loveable goof. She wants someone who will love her unconditionally. She had a rough time as a stray in the shelter, but has warmed up to being in a house. She isvvery smart, learns quickly, and has many commands like sit, down, off in hervvocabulary. She takes a treat very gently and follows commands. She is going tovmake a great best friend for her future forever home.
