THREE YEARS. That's how long Leila has been waiting. <br/><br/>For three years, Leila has watched other dogs come into rescue, find their people, and leave for their forever homes.<br/><br/>And somehow, she's still waiting.<br/><br/>Three years is too long for a dog to call a kennel home and now we're starting to see it take a toll on her. Leila is regressing at our Stray Cafe. The kennel environment, the constant noise, the stress, and watching people and dogs come and go day after day is becoming harder on her. She needs out. She needs a home.<br/><br/>Leila is now almost 6 years old, about 70 pounds, and one of those dogs who makes you wonder how she keeps getting overlooked. She's house trained, crate trained, affectionate, playful, beautifully mannered, and absolutely loves her people.<br/><br/>She can be around and enjoy other dogs, but when it comes to home, Leila wants to be your one and only pet. No other dogs and no cats. We know that makes her home a little harder to find, but harder does not mean impossible land it certainly doesn't mean she deserves it any less.<br/><br/>Behind that kennel door is a dog who deserves to know what it feels like to truly belong somewhere.<br/>A couch that becomes her spot.<br/><br/>A person who comes home to her every day.<br/><br/>A quiet place to sleep where the sounds of a kennel aren't constantly in the background.<br/><br/>A family who chooses her and never makes her wonder when it will finally be her turn.<br/><br/>Leila has given us three years of waiting. Three years of being a good girl. Three years of watching life happen around her.<br/><br/>And now, seeing her begin to regress after spending so long in this environment is heartbreaking. She cannot keep living like this.<br/><br/>We desperately want this to be the year we finally get to watch Leila leave the kennel for the last time.<br/>She doesn't need a perfect family. She just needs the right one.<br/><br/>Please share Leila. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).<br/><br/>The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet.
