Meet Leif – A Brilliant Boy Ready for His Perfect Match<br/><br/>Leif is a highly intelligent and devoted field golden retriever who is looking for a home where he can feel truly safe and loved. His early life was tough—he was left outside with people who weren’t so kind to him. Because of this, he needs time to build a strong, positive bond with his adopter before he feels truly secure.   Once you let him warm up to you, you will have a devoted companion.<br/><br/>Leif needs an adopter willing to take things slow at first while get learns to trust you.   With the trainer Leif has been living with, he enjoys hikes and going out in the world and shows so much trust and loyalty.  An adopter needs to know, however, that until Leif feels safe in his home, he may struggle with meeting new people, leash reactivity, and guarding behavior. However, his challenges have been easily managed through positive reinforcement training, structured routines, and simple management techniques in the home. By keeping his world predictable—avoiding offsite activities and setting him up for success—Leif thrives.<br/><br/>Here is an update from Leif's foster family:<br/><br/>Having won the heart of his trainers at Board & Train Leif is now with his foster family and it’s safe to say he absolutely loves family life. Building trust with his humans is key and having developed a strong bond with his foster dad initially, Leif soon felt secure enough in his new environment to expand his love and companionship to the whole family.<br/>Leif is devoted to his humans and likes to be close. He is quiet and settled at his foster dad’s feet during work hours, chases balls, sniffs and explores the yard (as long as someone is outside with him) and gets excited when the leash comes off the hook for walks. He is house trained, doesn’t beg or counter surf, is a sound sleeper through the night and wakes each morning ready to check on his humans with a good morning kiss.
