Leia's Story
3/5/25: Leia is about four years old, weighs twenty pounds, and has been given a Proheart shot after testing negative for heartworms. She came to us as one of fifteen dogs from a hoarding situation; as the least social, she is the final of that group remaining with us. She has shown promise that she can come around and do well with someone willing to show her a lot of love and patience - after a time with us, one volunteer can pick Leia up to bathe and vaccinate her, another has walked her on a leash, and several can interact with her; she's just scared of loud noises and new people. So, we are hoping to find a low-key home with a fenced-in yard willing to continue working with her, including teaching her house-training. She will need time to acclimate to her new owner and routine.
