Leia's Story

🐾 Meet Leia 🐾

Leia is a tiny Miniature Dachshund weighing about 5 pounds and estimated to be around 4 years old. She came to us from the same backyard breeder seizure case where 74 dogs were rescued, and she is now looking for a patient home where she can finally feel safe.

Leia can be nervous when meeting new people or experiencing new environments, though she tends to be a bit less nervous than some of the other dogs from the case. With gentle handling and patience, she continues to make progress and gain confidence.

Leia previously lived with many other dogs and gets along well with other dogs. She has not been tested with cats. Because she can still be unsure in new situations, we require that she go to a home with children 12 years or older so she can adjust at her own pace.

Leia is spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives.

Like the other dogs from this case, Leia tested positive for hookworms, whipworms, and giardia when she arrived. She has completed two rounds of treatment with Drontal and Panacur, and our veterinarian recommends a third treatment in June 2026, which we will provide to her adopter.
Leia is a gentle little dog who simply needs someone willing to give her time, patience, and love.

🐾 Adoption Application (first step in our process):
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HPAW/Dog
📧 Questions?
