Leia's Story
Meet Leia.

Leia would do best as the ONLY pet in the home, a home with no other dogs or cats.

Leia has completed obedience class and does good with older children 8+.

I’m Leia, and I’m ready for a forever family! I’m between 2-3 years old, and I’ve been with my foster family for a few months, after a tough start to my life (I was picked up on the mean streets, no telling where I’d been before my fosters rescued me from the shelter). Because of that, I can be a little timid and unsure, but I also need to be in charge, so I don’t really get along with my foster sister pup, who is too boisterous and energetic for me. I think I will do much better as an only dog. I love people, though it can take me a bit to warm up, given my shyness. But I’ve been great with all of the humans I’ve met, once I warm up.

I am learning to play more (I run after a ball, but don’t always bring it back yet), and I can even be silly sometimes. My foster mama says I have a very sweet, loving nature. She also says I’m a beautiful girl with a wonderful smile and soulful eyes, and I deserve the right family so that I can live my best life. My DNA test said I’m 80% pure German Shepherd, and a 20% mix of other things. Like most shepherd mixes, I love the outdoors, treats, toys, and walks. I am also a bit of a “velcro” dog, and want always to be around my people. I love to let them scratch and pet me, and my fur is wonderfully soft. I went through a month-long boot camp training program, so I have a great start on good manners, but much of that was also just learning to relax and gain confidence, so I definitely still have more I can learn, and I’m super smart and eager to please. I am fully potty and crate trained, though I’m a trustworthy little lady, and can be left alone without crating.

I am a healthy girl (just maybe a bit too heavy), up to date on all shots, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and I’ve been spayed. My foster family loves me very much, and they say I’d be a wonderful addition to the right family. Could that be you?

If you can offer a loving home to Leia and have no other pets, please contact email below for more information.

stokes007@gmail.com
