Leena 's Story

Leena was relinquished to a local shelter after her person passed away. Unfortunately, no one in the family was willing to take her in. At age 14, her chances of getting adopted in the shelter were slim even though many of the volunteers really liked her. After being a lap dog in a quiet senior home for many years, the noise and confusion of the shelter was scary for her. Her foster says that Leena LOVES people attention and lots of lap time, so her ideal home would be with someone who works from home or is retired. She seems to like the outdoors, so a fenced in yard/porch would be nice too. She gets along well with other dogs of similar size in her foster home. We are hoping to find a hospice foster or adoptive home where Leena can spend her remaining time in comfort and love.

Leena is spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and microchipped. She does have an elevated kidney value so we are feeding her a diet for kidney disease. She is starting to develop cataracts in both eyes, but she gets around just fine. Leena had a dental at the shelter. She has lost most of her teeth but still has some of her canines and enough teeth to keep her tongue in her mouth!

If you would like to meet Leena, go to www.cominischnauzerrescue,com and complete the on-line adoption application. We suggest that you print a copy of the application before you hit the “submit” button, just in case! We will give you a call to set up a time to bring Leena for a visit. If you have completed an adoption application within the last 12 months, or have previously adopted from Vintage Dog Rescue and would like to meet Leena, please let us know.
