Leeloo's Story

Leeloo - AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Hello, my name is Leeloo, and I am looking forward to getting my own family. I am approximately 4 years old, about 21 pounds, and the shelter workers felt that I might be a Basenji mix? . I am spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and is microchipped.

I am an active girl with a sweet-playful nature and a confident personality. I'm enjoy saying hello to new people and I love the attention they give me. I also love to be with my human, give kisses and snuggle under the covers at night. I have discovered a big stuffed teddy bear that foster mom has for her dogs and I love to curl up on it or find a cozy spot on the couch. My appetite is great and I am food motivated. This will make me easy to teach and train. So far I have learned sit, and I am learning that if I want something, I have to sit down first! I even know the hand signal for sit!

I haven’t met any children and foster mom isn’t sure how I would do with children, but older respectful children would likely be okay.

I love to roam in the backyard, and I come in when foster mom calls me. Sometimes I will bark in the house, so apartment living might not be for me. I don’t like being left alone and I will bark to let you know I want you there.

We have gone for a few walks, and I am learning not to pull, but sometimes my enthusiasm gets the best of me and I want to hurry ahead (Especially if I see squirrels!).

I would do best as an only dog. I am being fostered with other dogs currently, but it is not an ideal situation. I do not respect the social cues of other dogs, and this leads to disagreements. I have also chased the foster home cat. So to be safe, it's best to say I should live with nothing more exciting than a goldfish or two.

So, the long and short of it is... I'm outgoing and not afraid to meet new people. I need to be the only pet in my ideal home. You need to be home a lot because I don’t like being left alone. If you are into hiking, I would love to join you! It would be best if you have a secure backyard so I can enjoy being outside. Oh, and I am really good in the car!

I hope to meet you soon.

For more information, you may contact Cathy (foster parent) at cathyatsaveme@gmail.com
To fill out an adoption application for Leeloo, please visit our website: http://www.savemedogrescue.ca
**Adoptions within the province of Ontario only
