Leela (adoption fee sponsored) in foster's Story

*Lab Mix
*1 yr old; 37lbs
*Sweet, friendly, kind and gentle. Great girl for folks spanning the ages. Has done well meeting other dogs but can be picky at times. Loves a good squeaky toy!
*Foster Report March 2: Excellent in the home environment. Did great meeting other dogs and regularly hung out with the resident cat! House and crate trained. Errs on being more shy around men initially.

How do you spell adorable? We spell it L-E-E-L-A! How do you spell cute? We spell it L-E-E-L-A! You get the idea, right. So what's all the fuss??? The fuss is all about LEELA! This mid-sized mini labby girl is kind, gentle natured, sweet and pulls on all the right heart strings when you meet. When her human passed away, we were entrusted to match her up with her new family. Just a year old and 37lbs, she's the ideal size, weight and temperament for most folks spanning the ages. Graced with an amicable, upbeat, can-do attitude, she's hardly missed a beat since her arrival. Our sunny faced girl has been open to meeting other dogs so in her new home, having a 4 legged to welcome her to her new pet job, might be a good match. Easy to manage and excellent on the leash, everyone is reaching for this girl (staff and volunteers alike), so perhaps you'll need to take a number and get in Q when you come by to meet her! LOL.

Facebook Update March 2: Spotlight on LEELA!!Ā
If you're in the market for a sweet, kind, gentle natured, polite girl who has done well with otherĀdogs and also a foster's cat, Āyou need to check out Leela!! ĀLeela was in a weekend foster and she was terrific. ĀHer foster noted that while she was initiallyĀa littleĀshy and uncertain, Āher confidence quickly grew within 24 hrs. Stairs were scary at first but in no time, Āshe mastered them! ĀLeela didn'tĀhave much interest in toys or hanging in laps but definitelyĀperked up and enjoyed meetingĀother dogs. ĀQuiet and considerate, Āshe was perfectlyĀmindful of the homeĀenvironment. ĀLeela was an easy "first" foster for this Clemson student and we couldn't have been more pleasedĀto hear how well she did. ĀShe's now back on site and ready to share her move in pet qualities with YOU! ĀNote: Ā1 yr old; 37lbs

Foster update: Within 4 hours of being here a neighbor's cat came for her daily visit. Leela was thrilled. They were nose-to-nose immediately and were soon sharing the deck. This has been a daily ritual. ĀLeela is most comfortable with having a designated spot. She loves the dog bed and slept 8-9 hours every night and snored. Away from the dog bed, I would put down a blanket and that is where she felt safe (on the deck, out by the garden, in the shed watching me plant, etc). She loves to go for a walk and does a great job. She does not pull and regularly checks for affirmation that she is doing good. No chasing cats, but wanted to go after a squirrel. Most of the time you don't even know she's around. She likes listening to meditation music - seems to be calmed by it. ĀWhat a joy to have her as my first weekend foster.

Facebook Update March 27: Our mid-sized sweetheart LEELA continues to do well in her foster home. ĀThis prettyĀlady loves her leash walks and her quiet snuggly time with her person. ĀA little over a year old and 40lbs, Āif you're looking to make a tight connection with a doggy, ĀLeela would like to meet you! Ā
Foster update: She is doing very well. She seems fairly anxious. Definitely a dog who is very attached to one person and seems slightly scared of men. She becomes much more energetic and bold when she is with the person she trusts and is very quiet and independent. She’s doing very well on crate and houseĀtraining. She hasn’t had any accidents and she loves her crate. She spends a lot of time in her crate and it’s like her own safe space.
