Meet Leah <br/><br/><br/>Sometimes the shelter isn't where a dog's true personality shines.<br/><br/>Leah came to us scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of who she could trust. The noise, the strangers, and the constant activity were simply too much for her. Our hearts told us there was more to this sweet girl than what we were seeing.<br/><br/>So we gave her a chance.<br/><br/>Just one day after moving into a foster home, everything changed.<br/><br/>The timid dog we knew melted away, revealing a happy, spunky, affectionate girl who just needed to feel safe. It was as if she had been holding her breath, waiting for someone to show her the world wasn't such a scary place.<br/><br/>Leah isn't asking for a perfect home. She's simply hoping for a peaceful one. A family with a calm routine, older children, and patient hearts willing to let her continue to bloom.<br/>We're still learning how she feels about other dogs and cats, but we believe she'll most likely do well with slow, thoughtful introductions.<br/><br/>Every day Leah spends waiting is another day someone misses out on the incredible dog she's become. She doesn't belong behind kennel walls. She belongs curled up on a couch, going for walks, making happy memories, and finally knowing what it feels like to be someone's beloved dog.<br/>Could that someone be you? <br/><br/>Come meet Leah and see the beautiful soul that was just waiting for a second chance. <br/><br/><br/>If interested, please call the shelter at 231-861-5395 and leave a message to be placed on this dog's adoption list. No obligation, but it reserves your place in line on the list. The shelter will contact individuals as they appear on the list. <br/><br/><br/>The adoption fee is $95 and you receive certificates for $50 towards spay/neuter and $10 towards rabies vaccine if not already done. All dogs are heartworm tested, receive a DHLPP, flea and tick treatment, and are dewormed.
