Layla's Story

Age: 8 months
Weight: 28lbs

This blue eye beauty is one of the most lovable dogs I have had the pleasure of fostering. She loves to start her day by either going on a walk through the neighborhood or checking out the dog park to play (which she loves!), and then coming home to relax and take a long nap while I go about my day. Layla is extremely adaptable and she is happy to just go with the flow. She is equally happy going on long walk but also loves spending time indoors snuggling on the couch if you’re in the mood for a Netflix binge or if you have to work.

Layla certainly loves being close to the action and would prefer to hang out in the same room as her family, but she is not needy and she can easily entertain herself with a plush toy or a ball while you go about your day.

Layla is a young and very trainable dog. She is working very hard on housebreaking and knows to do her business outside. Right now, she prefers to go on grass versus the sidewalk, but she has only been in NYC for a short time (she was rescued in Texas) so this may change over time. Layla is a bit of a foodie and extremely smart, so I training should continue to be a breeze. At night she sleeps in a crate in my bedroom and she has slept through the night.

Layla will make her future family very happy! She is a great houseguest and I can’t wait for her to find her perfect family! She also gets along wonderfully her foster sister, a True North Alum.

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt Layla, apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt.truenorthrescue@gmail.com to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!

True North Pet Rescue Mission's Adoption Policy
First Step: Submit Your Application True North does not issue blanket approvals, we consider the needs of each specific dog when reviewing applications. If you don't have a specific dog in mind when applying, please note this on your application so that we can keep this in mind when reviewing. We require home photos for all applicants, but can accept a video replacement. Please enter as much detail as possible on your application, this helps us better understand what you are looking for and how this relates to the needs of the dog you have applied for. For puppies under 12 weeks, we require a care plan. This includes a plan for when the dog will be left alone, as puppies younger than 12 weeks should not be left alone longer than 2-3 hours at a time. Please Note: Due to the high volume of applications we receive, it is not always possible to reply to everyone. If your application is approved, you can expect the following. Second Step: Application Review & Approval 1. If your application is approved, an email will be sent connecting you with the dog's current foster. At this time, you may schedule a mutually convenient time to meet. 2. After meeting, you have 24 hours to confirm if you would like to move forward with finalizing the adoption. After this, if we have not heard from you, we will begin scheduling other meets. 3. If you choose to finalize, we will issue an adoption contract via email. Once the signed agreement has been electronically returned along with the adoption fee (which will be disclosed prior to adopting), you will be all set to coordinate for pick-up with the foster! Adoption Fees: Our adoption fees are comparable to those found amongst other well-known rescues in the city. We only accept electronic payments for adoption fees.
