Layla's Story

Meet Layla: your retired neighborhood watch captain, professional squirrel reporter, and full-time sweet soul
At 9 years young, Layla the beagle is entering her "soft life" era-and she's searching for a home that understands that the best things in life are slow, gentle, and worth the extra care.
Let's be real for a second: Layla is not a "low-maintenance" dog. She comes with a routine, a plan, and some ongoing medical needs. Layla has severe skin sensitivities, which means daily lifelong medication, a strict limited-ingredient diet, and weekly medicated baths to keep her feeling her best. She's also missing some fur due to these sensitivities-but we promise, it just adds to her unique charm. Her future family will need to be prepared-emotionally and financially-to continue this care. We also have a detailed report to send along, including known food triggers (like beef and rice) to help set her up for success.
And just as important as her medical care: Layla will need her people to go at her pace. She needs a home that respects her boundaries and understands that trust takes time. It may take weeks-or even months-for her true personality to fully shine, but she is so worth the wait.
Now for the part you can't put a price on:
Layla is so worth it.
She's housebroken, crate trained, and wonderfully low-energy. She's the kind of dog who doesn't need constant entertainment; she just wants to exist near you. Her ideal day? A leisurely walk where she can stop and sniff every blade of grass (beagle nose = serious business), followed by her favorite activity: perched on the back of the couch, quietly watching the world go by like it's her personal TV channel.
And don't worry-you'll always be informed of any suspicious activity. Squirrels? Detected. Neighbors walking by? Reported. Layla takes her job seriously.
She's incredibly sweet, gets along well with other dogs and cats, and would do best with calm, respectful furry friends who understand personal space. Because of her past, Layla needs patience and kindness-but once she trusts you, you'll have a loyal, gentle companion who just wants to be near her people.
Layla would thrive in a home with older, respectful children and patient humans who understand that love doesn't have to be loud to be deep.
She's not perfect. She's not easy.
But she's soft, she's kind, she's trying-and she deserves someone who sees her not as "a lot of work," but as a lot of love waiting to happen.
If you believe the best companions are the ones who need us a little more-Layla is waiting for you.

ADOPTION PROCESS
1.
