LAYA's Story

Meet Laya
Laya is a 3-year-old Maltipoo weighing approximately 10lbs, with a curious, social nature and a love for being around her people.

Laya would do well in a home with another pet—cat or dog—but this isn’t a must. She could also be very happy as an only dog, soaking up all the attention. Ideally, her forever home would have someone who is home a good portion of the day. While she can settle when left alone (after a few minutes of barking), she definitely prefers company.

She loves the outdoors—even in the cold—and is always excited to head out for walks. Laya enjoys meeting other dogs and wants to say hello to everyone, though very forward or high-energy dogs can feel overwhelming for her at first. She does best with calm, respectful dog friends.

Laya is curious and social with cats. She is currently in a foster home with cats and does a great job respecting their signals and boundaries, which is lovely to see.

Her foster home includes both dogs and cats, and her foster is also a professional dog trainer. This gives us a great, experienced perspective on Laya’s personality and needs.

Her housetraining is improving but isn’t quite 100% yet. If you’re quick to get her outside, she does well—she just needs consistency and attentiveness. Grooming is a work in progress, and her foster is slowly working on removing some mats.

Laya can be a bit barky at hallway noises or unfamiliar sounds, which isn’t unexpected, but she is settling in faster than anticipated and continues to do better each day.

Laya is located in Toronto. She will be spayed soon and will then be ready to head to her forever home.

Apply now to meet Laya and see if she’s the perfect fit for your family.

•••••••••

As my foster family gets to know me my profile can change and will be updated accordingly. Check back often for details! An application for me can be found at www.justpaws.ca.

Just Paws is located in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, Canada. We do not adopt out of province or country.

Please note that although many of our dogs get along with children, we are not able to adopt to any household with kids under the age of 8 years old. This is a stipulation of our insurance and is not a reflection on suitability of the potential adopter.
