Lavender's Story

Hello humans! My name is Lavender, and I’m a sensitive, high-energy 3-year-old girl looking for someone special. I may not be a puppy anymore, but I still have a youthful spirit and plenty of zest for life! I have a shy exterior and am very fearful of strangers, and I need an adopter with experience helping dogs work through behavioral challenges—especially extreme shyness and fear-based behaviors. I am not aggressive, I just freeze in the presence of strangers and unfamiliar people.

Once I trust you, my playful side shines. I love to run, chase my brothers, and play with all kinds of toys. I zoom so fast my ears fly straight back—so if you could help me get them back in place afterward, that would be awesome! And when all that fun tires me out, I’m a total snugglebug who’s happiest curled up in a warm lap.

If you have the skills, patience, and heart to help me feel safe while cheering me on through my progress, please put in an application. I promise I’m worth the effort.

I am up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

The cost to adopt is $250, and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that is located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt

**Important: Lavender is a special behavioral case and deals with extreme fear and anxiety. She is not a first-time dog, but is absolutely the sweetest girl and is worth the effort. We are looking for a special person to help her work through her fear.***

Once your completed application has been reviewed, the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me. Thank you! Please read all guidelines before sending in an application. Do not reach out to the sanctuary about the status of your application. We will contact you if we are interested in setting up an appointment.

Please read before applying. We place our animals—many from neglectful or abusive backgrounds—only in safe, responsible homes. Basic requirements include up-to-date vet care for current/past pets (Rabies, Distemper, annual exams, heartworm prevention for dogs), safe housing, and a vet reference check from all clinics used in the last 10 years. Renters must provide landlord approval. First-time adopters ages 21–25 may need additional info. You must apply for a specific animal and complete the application fully. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule a meet & greet; we cannot provide status updates due to high volume.
