Lavender's Story

Lavender came to OPCS from the euthanasia list at the OKC shelter. It was obvious she had been a stray her whole life. When we got her home, she was completely shutdown. Wouldn't come out of her crate even when the door was left open. We had to carry her outside to go potty. You could tell no one had ever truly seen or loved this precious girl. After a week or so, we started to see little signs of progress. She would willingly walk downstairs to go outside and she wanted to be around us more. Originally we thought Lavender was a brown cream colored dog. But when she was more comfortable with us, we gave her a bath. Out of all my fosters, she was by far the dirtiest I have ever seen. So surprise!! She is a completely white dog!! From that moment, she was clean for the first time in her life and that changed everything!! Lavender came to life after that. Gone was the timid, hopeless little girl we brought home. Now she was finally becoming who she was meant to be all along. Survival mode gone, learning to live mode here. This girl has so enjoyed worrying only about treats, love, and toys. She has soaked up every single minute of knowing what it's like to feel safety, love, and comfort for the first time. Her spirit is so innocent and happy! She runs around the house now, jumps on the bed, loves to play, counter surfs, and adores everyone!! She has come so far and it's been nothing short of joy to watch her thrive and see her true personality. Lavender is an absolute doll! She is potty and crate trained, dog friendly and the sweetest baby you could ask for!!
