LAURIE's Story
Laurie (A566179) finally got her big break! Laurie has been with us since March 12, which makes her one of our long stay dogs. After so many weeks in a kennel, she recently got the chance to spend time in a foster home, and the difference was incredible. Her foster described her as a quiet homebody who wanted nothing more than to curl up on the couch or lie by their feet. She stayed close, loved being part of the household and was adorably nosy in the kitchen. She was very good inside overall. The only issue was that she was not great about signaling when she needed to go out, but once she was put on a consistent schedule she did beautifully. Laurie also showed off her playful side. Tug of war was her absolute favorite game, and she loved fetch even if she did not always bring the toy back right away. She had no trouble giving up toys when her foster took them, which is always a wonderful sign. As for cats, Laurie had mixed reactions. She coexisted well with the calm cat but barked at and tried to chase the more vocal one, so a laid back cat may be fine but supervision will be key. She did try to take soft cat toys, so families with young kids should keep in mind that stuffed animals might look like dog toys to her. On the bright side, she ignored the litter box completely other than a curious sniff. Laurie is estimated to be around 2 years old and weighs 55 pounds. All animals adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are microchipped, appropriately vaccinated, spayed/neutered and given a 30 day flea/tick preventative. Ready to meet Laurie?
