Laura's Story

Name: Laura Age: 12 months Breed: Lab Mix Gender: Female Weight: 50 Good with kids: Unknown Good with dogs: yes Good with cats: yes Current on vaccinations: Yes Fixed: Yes Adoption also includes Certified Vet Inspection, and Prior vetting paperwork. Foster location: Waupaca, WI Application & Website: https://www.ourpackanimalrescue.com/adoption.html

We need to talk about sweet Laura.
It's obvious this girl has been through more than any dog ever should, and somehow she continues to beat the odds.
Laura found herself in a shelter facing euthanasia after arriving in rough condition. It was clear she had suffered significant trauma. Her tail was broken in at least three different places, and there were concerns about injuries to her hind end as well.
But Laura had a guardian angel watching over her that day. Her euthanasia was postponed, giving her a second chance at life.
Then came her spay surgery. During the procedure, a complication occurred that caused severe hemorrhaging, and her spleen had to be removed. Once again, Laura fought her way through and pulled through surgery, earning herself a third chance at life.
She is a fighter through and through.
After everything she's endured, Laura deserves nothing more than a life of being spoiled rotten and loved like the princess she is.
Unfortunately, life has thrown one more medical curveball her way.
Our veterinarian suspects Laura may have Cauda Equina Syndrome, a condition involving narrowing and compression around the lower spine and nerves. It is possible this is related to previous trauma, congenital issues, or a combination of both. Another possibility is lumbosacral disease, though at this time there is no definitive diagnosis.
Because of these concerns, her damaged tail has not been amputated. Surgery carries a risk of causing additional nerve damage, and at this point the benefits do not outweigh the potential risks.
The important thing to know is this:
Laura is happy.
She runs. She plays. She wrestles with other dogs. She adores kids, did well with the kitties; she jumps around. She enjoys life exactly the way a dog should.
The only noticeable difference is that she can be a little stiff in her hind end when she walks.
Could that remain unchanged for years? Absolutely.
Could it progress as she ages and eventually cause more difficulty walking? It is possible.
The truth is, nobody knows exactly what the future holds.
What we do know is that maintaining a healthy weight will be incredibly important for helping her stay comfortable and active for as long as possible.
Please don't let her medical history scare you away.
Laura doesn't wake up every morning thinking about her past. She doesn't know she was almost euthanized. She doesn't know she survived major surgery. She doesn't know she may have a spinal condition.
She just knows she's alive.
And after fighting this hard for every chance she's been given, we think she deserves a family willing to take a chance on her too.
Laura has already proven she's a survivor. Now she just needs someone to show her what forever feels like. ❤ï ̧

Could that home be yours? #AdoptLaura #RescueDog #BlueEyedBeauty #ForeverHomeWanted #AdoptDontShop Our Pack Animal Rescue, Inc.
