Larry McLaren's Story
Meet This Sweet, Handsome Boy!
At 4 1/2 years old (3/18/22), this sweet boy is the kind of Husky who can truly do it all. He is loving, friendly, outgoing, and playful, but he also knows how to settle down and enjoy some quiet time. He enjoys playing with other dogs and does well in a daycare play setting, making him a fun companion without needing a super-active lifestyle.

He is house trained and has been an absolute delight during his time in foster care. His foster mom says he has been clean, has not destroyed his room, and has been a wonderful guest. His previous owner mentioned that he may have some separation anxiety, but so far, he has been doing beautifully in his foster environment.

He does well with other dogs, and his previous owner reported that he was also good with smaller dogs, even dogs around Jack Russell size. His foster family has not personally tested him with smaller dogs, so that would need to be taken into consideration when introducing him to new canine friends.

Cats are a definite no for this handsome boy. He should be adopted into a home without cats.

His foster mom describes him as a very nice boy who simply shines when he knows he is loved. He would love a family who wants him, spends time with him, and makes him feel like a cherished member of the family. He enjoys getting out for walks and would especially love exploring places where people can stop and tell him just how handsome he is — because according to his foster mom, he absolutely lights up when he gets attention and affection!

He does not need an extremely active family. A home that enjoys walks, some playtime, and plenty of companionship would suit him wonderfully. He would also enjoy having other dogs around to play with.

There is one behavior his foster mom has noticed: he can be protective of his water bowl when there is only one available, particularly at daycare. When multiple water bowls are provided, the resource guarding is greatly reduced. His future family should be mindful of this and continue to manage his resources appropriately.

His crate training is currently unknown, and he does require a secure tie-out when outside.

As for children, his behavior with them is currently unknown. His foster mom feels that, given his sweet and gentle personality, she would not expect him to have a problem with children, but he has not been tested with them yet.

He is not considered a dog who requires an experienced Husky owner, so his family does not need to have previous Husky experience. What he really needs is someone who will love him, spend time with him, give him the companionship he craves, and appreciate what a wonderful boy he is.

If you're looking for a loving, social, handsome Husky who can enjoy a good play session but is also perfectly happy to relax with his people, this boy may be the one you've been waiting for.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete and submit an adoption application.
