Larry's Story

*Larry is currently enjoying a break from the shelter in one of our fabulous foster homes. If you would like to adopt Larry, email DOGS@ARLGP.ORG to set up a meet-and-greet.*

Oh, Larry. Larry is a staff favorite at the ARLGP and has many endearing nick names; Larold, Lar-bear, Lair, 'scaredy larry', all out of love. As staff put it, "Larry is a vibe."

We don't know much about Larry's history, but we know he didn't learn much. Larry can be weary of new friends, but once you're in, oh.. it's on. Get ready for 'Larry Hops' as he prances towards you, get ready for adventure, goofiness galore, and so much more.

We get it, adopting a dog who lacks confidence around new people is scary. Larry is a gentle guy, and has proven he can come around to anyone. What Larry is especially fond of, though... is other dogs. Larry LOVES other dogs. If he could play until the end of time, he would. He is our current resident 'helper dog' for playgroups with everyone from rough and rowdy players, to our 'teaparty' kiddos. Put a dog in front of Larry- he will read them like a book and respond accordingly; considerate, helpful, kind, demure.

Larry cannot live with cats or small animals due to his prey drive, and should not be left unsupervised outdoors; as mentioned, he has the cutest bunny hops, but certainly could jump a fence. He hasn't tried because he loves us and wants to stay near us, but if you're considering adopting him, just know; you've been forewarned.

If you’re looking for a gentle soul to love and have the patience to help him grow into the confident dog he’s meant to be, Larry just might be your guy. Come meet him and see if you’re the one he’s been waiting for!
