Larry's Story

Meet Larry!

Larry is a 2-year-old, 25-lb mixed breed who is equal parts gentle observer and playful pup.

He's a shy boy who is still learning that the world (and people) can be safe, but once he feels comfortable, his rambunctious personality starts to shine through in the most endearing ways.

He's an expert shadow (he'll happily follow you from room to room) and absolutely thrives around other dogs!

Larry adores canine companions and would do best in a home with a friendly dog who loves other dogs and can help him build confidence.

Larry is still getting used to human touch.
He allows gentle petting, especially in calm moments or when he's settled in bed, but it's not something he actively seeks out just yet.
He shows his affection in other ways like choosing to stay close, sleeping in bed with his people, and quietly keeping you company throughout the day.

He is potty trained and does well with routine. He also enjoys having a crate available as a safe, cozy space where he can retreat and relax when he needs downtime.
He's still working on leash training and getting comfortable with wearing a collar, and will need a patient adopter who's willing to continue helping him build confidence at his own pace.

Some of his favorite things include playing with other dogs, chewing on branches, digging impressive holes in the yard (a true landscaper at heart), munching on scrambled eggs, and stretching out on a big cozy human bed.

Larry is looking for a calm, patient home that will give him the time and space he needs to continue coming out of his shell. With the right environment (especially one with another dog) he has so much potential to grow into an incredibly loyal companion.

Larry is currently being fostered in West New York, NJ.

To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.

For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.

We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

To adopt a pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our dogs and cats come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations (including rabies), microchipped, dewormed, and treated for any medical issues identified during veterinary examinations. Dogs are also heartworm negative and current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. The adoption fee helps cover these services and supports our ongoing rescue work. Please note that our pets come from shelters, so we cannot guarantee age, breed, mix of breeds, or adult size. To learn more about adoption fees and the process, please complete our adoption application at https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt . Applications allow us to understand your household and assess whether a pet is a good match. An application does not obligate you to adopt and can be applied to any pet. Due to high demand, not all applicants may be contacted; if your application is a good fit for the pet you’re interested in—or another pet—a volunteer will reach out as soon as possible. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a shelter location.
