Lark's Story

My name is LARK and as you can see in my pics, I'm a very happy and sweet girl who always has a big smile on my face! I'm a 10 month old Hound and Lab mix and weigh 40 pounds so I'll probably gain a few more pounds and be 50 pounds when I'm fully grown. I'm lots of fun and and get along great with everyone I meet and other male and female pups. I love to play and have a medium energy level but I'm very well behaved for still being a puppy.

My Foster Mom says I'm a smart and sensitive girl and sometimes goofy too. I'll be a wonderful family dog because I'm so well-mannered , eager to please and know how to be gentle with children. I'm healthy, up to date on my vaccinations, house-trained and crate trained. I'm practicing my leash walking and making great strides. I'm dreaming of a wonderful adopter so I can be part of a loving family. I'd love a fenced backyard but I'd do great with an active family who will give me walks and exercise too. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get LOTS more info and videos of me.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
