Lara's Story
Lara is a 9-month-old chocolate Labrador with the gentlest soul and the most striking green eyes you’ll ever see. From the moment you meet her, you can tell she’s something truly special. When she first arrived, we wondered if her short little legs came from a Basset or Dachshund mix—but it turns out Lara is simply one of a kind.

She was born with a few physical challenges, including short legs, a pronounced overbite, and hip and elbow deformities. But none of that defines her—and it certainly doesn’t slow her heart. Lara greets life with joy, moving through the world with her own adorable “bunny-hop” walk that will make you smile every single day.

While she isn’t built for long, strenuous adventures, Lara loves neighborhood walks, time with her people, and playing with her dog friends. She happily joins in wrestling matches and holds her own just fine, all while keeping her cheerful, easygoing spirit.

Lara is affectionate, happy, and full of love to give. She doesn’t need perfection—she just needs someone who will see her for who she is and love her exactly as she is. Somewhere out there is the person meant for Lara, and when they find her, their life will be forever brighter.
⸻
Foster & delivery Information — Please Read

This dog is fostered with one of our rescue families in Texas and is available to travel north on our scheduled trips, which run at least twice each month.

Due to recent technical changes on this site that began in early December, dogs fostered outside an adopter’s immediate area may not appear unless filters are adjusted. We encourage adopters to read profiles fully and reach out with any questions — we are always happy to help. Inquiries through the site are not always coming through. If you send an inquiry and we do not answer, we didn't get it. You can use our direct email at atasnp@gmail.com or text/call 469-241-0000.

You can also find us on Facebook:
Atlanta Texas Area Spay Neuter Project

Upcoming Transport
Friday & Saturday — January 9th and 10th
Please see pick-up locations below.

Important transport notes:
• We cannot do meet-and-greets. The trip is long and demanding, and it would not be safe or fair for a dog or puppy to travel north and then return to Texas.
• No deposits are accepted.
• All adoption fees are paid in person at pick-up.
⸻
Adoption Applications

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please do not delay applying. There is often high interest, and applications are reviewed in the order they are received when possible.

Using the link or copying and pasting it is the fastest way to reach us:

Application:
https://form.jotform.com/222705071398154
⸻
$ Adoption Fee & Pickup Locations:

Total adoption fee: $250
The adoption fee includes transport to the following locations:

Missouri:
* Herculaneum (south of St Louis)
Illinois:
• Collinsville (north of St. Louis)
• Springfield
• Bloomington / Normal
• Oglesby
• Roscoe
Wisconsin:
• Sun Prairie
• Fond du Lac

Pickup schedule:
• Friday evening: Herculaneum, Collinsville, Springfield, Bloomington/Normal

• Saturday: Oglesby, Roscoe, Sun Prairie, Fond du Lac
Additional notes:
• Green Bay area adopters meet in Fond du Lac
• Joliet & Davenport area adopters meet in Oglesby or Roscoe
• Milwaukee area adopters: we do not have a Milwaukee stop, but we do stop in Sun Prairie, Fond du Lac, and Roscoe (near Rockford)

Medical & Spay/Neuter Information:
Most puppies travel with two rounds of vaccines, and sometimes three. Occasionally, we may not have had a puppy long enough for a second round.

Puppies under 6–8 months of age are not spayed or neutered. Spaying or neutering is a required condition of adoption and must be completed by the puppy’s first birthday, at the adopter’s expense. Out-of-state surgery costs are not included in the adoption fee.
⸻
About Our Rescue
Atlanta Texas Area Spay Neuter Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Adoption proceeds go directly toward:
• Spaying and neutering dogs for low-income families in Texas, Arkansas, and Louisiana
• Medical care for rescued puppies and dogs
• Emergency veterinary assistance for families in need when possible

All dogs remain in Texas foster homes until adopted.
⸻
Breed Disclaimer:
Breed is our best estimate based on the puppy’s appearance and, when known, the mother’s appearance. Fathers are rarely known, and litters can have multiple fathers, meaning puppies may be half-siblings with different breed mixes.
⸻
Follow Us on Facebook: Atlanta Texas Area Spay/Neuter Project

Follow us on TikTok: ATASNP
