Lalo's Story

Lalo is a 4-year-old, 10-pound male chihuahua mix from Alabama. He is a cute, bold, affectionate, and curious little dog who approaches life with enthusiasm. Lalo loves people and likes to be involved in whatever they are doing. He is still learning how to settle when his people are around.

Walks are social outings, and Lalo is always looking for his next opportunity to say hello. He actively seeks out human interaction and expects everyone he meets to pet him.

Lalo is a true velcro dog, but he settles well overnight on his own and has also shown that he can relax when left home alone for a few hours. Human interaction is his favorite thing in the world, and he would happily spend all day with his people if given the chance. He also enjoys toys and playtime, although people will always win if he has to choose. Because he is so engaged with the people around him, he relaxes best in a quiet space with less activity and distraction.

Lalo is a smart little dog who quickly learned "sit" and "down." He loves his meals and never misses breakfast or dinner, but when it comes to training, he is often more motivated by attention, praise, and affection than treats.

Lalo appears to be house trained and quickly settled into his routine. He uses pee pads overnight and does his business outside during the day when taken out regularly.

Lalo is learning the sights and sounds of city life. He generally stays close to his person on leash, but the noise and stimulation of a busy New York street can sometimes be overwhelming. When that happens, Lalo may stop and take a break before continuing on his way.

Lalo is very interested in other dogs and can become very excited during dog interactions. He is still learning appropriate dog-to-dog social skills, but has been able to take corrections from other dogs when he pushes boundaries. He interacts best with dogs that are similar in size to him.

While Lalo has not yet had many opportunities to interact with children, his limited interactions have been very positive, and he was friendly and affectionate.

Lalo is looking for a home where he will be a central part of daily life. He thrives on companionship and loves being around his person or people. His forever home will need to continue helping him build calm indoor manners and reinforce the progress he has already been making.

Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Negative for heartworm disease and current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Lalo, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org
