Lady Jenna's Story

Pug Rescue of New England (PRoNE) is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer foster home based rescue organization.

MEET LADY JENNA

Available after 2/3 medical appointment

This gorgeous petite 4-year-old puggle is 99% sweetness and light with a sprinkling of sass. She is playful, affectionate, clever, loyal and adaptable. She's been getting along very well with her senior pug foster siblings and doesn't give anyone any grief unless she calls dibs on her foster dad's lap. If she does get there first, she wants complete ownership of the real estate, or she's going to put up a fuss. Her foster parent is working on teaching her that laps hold many pugs! Lady Jenna's first dad passed away, and she has bonded very closely to her foster dad. We wouldn't call her foster mom chopped liver if she hadn't said it first, soooo...she's pretty much chopped liver. We feel Lady Jenna will need a male who she can charm in her new family and she'd be okay as an only pet or would be fine with a non-dominant companion. If given the choice, she picks humans every time. She has not been cat tested. There are no children in her foster home but given her tendency to be a bit possessive of her person, we will seek a home with older dog savvy children only. While she shows this possessiveness of her person, Jenna is very polite at mealtime. She doesn't bother anyone else while they are eating but will happily be on the cleanup crew for any scraps that are rarely left behind.

Lady Jenna also answers to Jenna and she LOVES her toys! Particularly her purple dinosaur. She is not partial to the purple color as she came in with a totally de-stuffed pink one. She carries her dino all around and is often found napping with it. Also, she doesn't want her dino playing with any other dogs. He is hers and hers alone. She has a little guard dog/nosy neighbor gene as you will often find her on the back of the couch patrolling the neighborhood. She'll give a little bark to alert you to any activity, so she works well as a companion to your ring doorbell. Jenna is a smart girl and knows basic commands such as sit, stay and come. Her mobility is fantastic and she's a pretty good girl on leash. Continued leash training will be helpful, especially as the weather warms up. Jenna is not a fan of loud noises like the blender or blow dryers, but she is a good girl for grooming. The beagle in her loves to root around looking for things under beds and in couch cushions. Enrichment activities such as snuffle mats and hiding things for her to find will keep her very happy.

She did very well at her vet visit and is in good health. We have separated her vaccines due to a history of reactions to vaccines. Her rabies appointment is 2/3 after which she will be available. Her medical records document some nipping behaviors when startled. We have not seen this in her foster home towards any people. Aside from trying to nip the other dogs when they try and get up on their dad's lap when she got there first, she has shown good manners. Jenna is the perfect blend of comic pug with quirky beagle traits, and she will keep you smiling from morning 'til night!

ADOPTION FEE: $500.00

REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTING LADY JENNA:

A male in the home or single male preferred

Dog savvy children aged 12 and older

Cats unknown

Lady Jenna would love to be your one and only or could have non dominant companions

Daily walks and enrichment activities

Lady Jenna is house trained, but understand that accidents may happen during transitions

Fenced yard preferred but Jenna should not be left unattended in the yard

Continued work with Jenna's possessive traits, avoiding reinforcement of negative behaviors

Commitment to ongoing medical needs to include annual well visits as well as prevention of flea tick and heartworm associated disease

If you are interested in adopting, your home situation MUST meet this criteria:

A vet reference check, dog walker check (if applicable), landlord check (if applicable), a phone interview and home visit will be conducted prior to approval.
