Lady's Story

ADOPT Lady!!
Sometimes, the world can be a scary place. We don't know what happened to Lady in her past, but whatever it was, it made the outside world a hard place to be.

Lady has made tremendous progress in being more confident and brave. She needs a very gentle and quiet home to thrive. She is looking for a very patient adopter, preferably one who has experience with shy and nervous dogs. We started her on some some anti anxiety medication to help improve her quality of life, and it has proven to be very helpful While we know she still has a long way to go to feel safe and blossom, we are so proud of how far she's come!

In many ways, Lady is a very easy keep. She will never need to be walked for more than 5 mins. She likes to get her business done and head back inside. She is low key. She doesn't ask for much at all. Just a warm bed, full belly, quiet peaceful space to call home with her canine buddies.

In other ways, Lady has a lot of non-negotiables that we require in her forever home. Lady needs time and patience, and her world needs to be kept small until she is ready. She needs to be given agency of choice- choice of when she's ready to meet someone, choice of spaces she prefers, choice of being able to go back inside when she feels scared. Because ultimately, she needs to feel safe.

Lady is about 4 years old, 37lb. She is good with other dogs and will require a home with another resident dog (or dogs) to help mentor her. She needs a quiet home without a lot of comings and goings, and a home that is set in a quiet neighborhood with a fenced in yard. City dwelling is not in the books for sweet Lady here unfortunately. Kids are a bit too scary for Lady to handle. She would do best with an adult only household.

If you live in DC/MD/NoVa and would like to give a shy pup a loving home to call their own, apply for Lady on our website to begin the process:

https://forms.gle/JXrrxrUdRU8E1vhG7
