Ladi's Story
Meet Ladi.

Ladi is a 3-year-old, 39-pound sweetheart who fully embraces her princess status. She is affectionate, wiggly, and deeply devoted to her people. She is easy to take out of her kennel, just a little excited for leashing, and heads outside to go potty as soon as her paws hit the grass, showing strong signs that she is house-trained.

On leash, Ladi is strong for her size and pulls moderately, so her adopter will need to be prepared to continue working on leash manners. With consistency and positive training, she continues to make progress. She eagerly jumps into the car on her own and rides well, though she does whimper anxiously during the ride and seeks reassurance from her person. She settles best when she feels secure and connected.

In open spaces, Ladi truly shines. She loves to run and is impressively fast, making a fenced yard an ideal setup for her. She shows clear interest in small wildlife and appears to have some prey drive, so a home without small animals is recommended.

Toys do not initially capture her attention, but over time she grows more interested and will fetch and bring items back once engaged. She enjoys treats and takes them gently. She knows "sit," though she is occasionally selective about when she responds. More than anything, she is motivated by affection. She sometimes jumps up, but she does so gently, and she happily curls up in your lap if invited.

In a home setting, she is well behaved and even tolerates baths politely, though a bit hesitantly.

At her core, Ladi is an incredibly sweet girl who seeks reassurance, connection, and love. She thrives with patience and guidance and is ready to be a loyal, devoted companion in a home that understands her strengths and supports her continued growth.

Ladi shows interest in other dogs away from the shelter. In the shelter setting, she tends to be a bit reactive, potentially due to stress. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines.

To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
