We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Lacie before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: 4 1/2 years old (born September 2022)

*WEIGHT: 60 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence and yard are required. Lacie loves the freedom that she has to run around as much as she wants in the fosters fenced back yard. Her recall isn't great so we think she does need a fenced yard for her future success. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as we do not feel these would set her up for success.

*COAT TYPE: Soft curly lower-shedding coat. Adopter should be prepared to brush her coat often to prevent matting and have her groomed regularly with an estimated cost of $120/groom.

*ENERGY LEVEL: Medium energy. She requires daily exercise. She does jump a little when she's excited/you're just returning home. She loves fetching and playing with toys. She currently takes 2 walks a day. She does settle and is very content to lay at your feet. She will go to bed when you do. She sleeps on a dog bed in the bedroom.

*DOGS: yes she has loved all dogs she has been around. The foster home has 2 dogs and she does well with them. She does play a little rough sometimes, and wants to play for a long time. Her foster siblings have to tell her when they've had enough - she will usually try one more time to get them to keep playing, but will stop after they tell her twice. She would do fine in a house without other dogs if her humans are around most of the day. If there is another dog it should be one that would be tolerant of her playing and rough housing.

*CATS: No. She wants to chase cats when sees one so we think it is wise that she not be placed in a home with a cat.

*KIDS: Yes! Her foster mom has a 9 year old granddaughter that Lacie absolutely loves to see! Lacie does still jump and will jump on the child, because of the jumping, we think she would do best n a home with older kids that will be able to help her learn not to jump.

*CAR: She does well in the car! She usually just lays down and enjoys the ride. If she is not buckled in, she will try to get in the front seat occasionally. She just wants to be as close to you as she can be!

*CRATE: Lacie does well in the crate and was crated in her previous home. She is not currently crated in her foster home. She was crated at the beginning and would go in the crate reluctantly, but did great once she was in there. She has done great since her foster mom has been leaving her out of the crate. As long as things she can get into are put up, she does fine!

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! Lacie has not had any accidents in her foster home.

*LEASH: She walks well on a leash; she may pull initially out of excitement but heels very well. She will pull hard to get to a squirrel or small animals.

*AT VET: GREAT!

*WITH GROOMING: Good although she is a complete wiggleworm! The groomer wrote a note Lacie is very sweet, she is young and a little hyper but loves other dogs and to play. She does best with a groomers helper because she likes to turn and wiggle.

Lacie is a gorgeous 4 12 year old female Goldendoodle who weighs 60 lbs. She was rehomed by her owners friend after the owner passed away. Her owner was in hospice and her friend took Lacie in to give the owner peace; it was the friends intention to rehome Lacie after her owner passed away as she didn't feel she had the right type of home for Lacie's happiness. She wanted Lacie to be in a home with a fenced yard and a family with kids would be even better as she reportedly loves kids!

Lacie is very sweet and very intelligent! She is a very happy, wiggly, friendly, playful bouncy girl. She is toy-obsessed, and will play happily with them by herself, but loves it even more if you play catch and fetch with her. She is an excellent "catcher"...leaping so high for her tossed ball or toy. Her favorite game is soccer with her playing goalie position trying to stop the ball I try to kick past her. She will bring toys and if you don't throw it for her she will just keep bringing them! Her foster mom fell asleep on the couch one day and woke up surrounded by every toy from the toy bin!

Lacie knows basic skills of sit, stay, heel, lie down etc. She is very smart but can sometimes be a little stubborn. If she is being corrected, she will try to turn it into a game and will run around instead of listening. She has a lot of energy and is very funny! She is very fond of shoes and pillows.... She will carry shoes that are left out around the house - never chewing on them, just rearranging them! If they are on the shoe rack though, she leaves them alone. She also rearranges the pillows in the home. She carries the upstairs pillows downstairs and the downstairs pillows upstairs. Again, never chewing on them, just carrying them around.

Since Lacie likes to turn everything into a game, she does not always come when called. She will need a fenced in yard for this reason. If you try to chase her, she will think its the best game ever and rub all around to avoid getting caught :) She has gotten a little bit better in her foster home with this and has learned from the other dogs in the home.

Lacie will bark if she sees or hears something outside, but will usually stop when she is told to. I have had to close the front door before when there were kids playing outside because she would not stop barking, but that is rare.
Lacie does not know the difference between her toys and the Childs stuffed animals. She will take the child's toys and play with them, or carry them around the house. She just doesn't understand the difference. If there are kids in the house they should understand this and help her learn.

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

Adjectives that describe Lacie:
*Friendly
*Playful
*Sweet
*Excitable
*Loving
*Exuberant

Activities she enjoys:
-Fetch!!
-Playing soccer
-Chewing on toys
-All stuffed animals are hers!
-Walks
-Snuggles
-Playing

A few needs work items for Lacie:
*recall
*alert barking she barks at some loud noises, cars driving by, people/dogs on walks

Ideal type of home for Lacie:
-Fenced yard where she is able to run and play.
-Owner who is able to walk and ensure her exercise needs are met.
-Single family house would be best rather than shared-wall housing due to her alert barking.

Lacie is spayed, microchipped, current on core vaccines and house-trained. Her heartworm and fecal tests were negative. She is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives.

ADOPTION FEE: $650

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.

TO APPLY FOR LACIE-ILLINOIS, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
