Lacie's Story
"Lacie" is a 7 year old spayed female Dachshund / Chihuahua mix. This special little gal ended up in the Yuma shelter as a stray. She was fearful and guarded, with evident signs of abuse. The shelter contacted us directly as a special request for her to possibly be transferred to the ranch. It was immediately evident that this sweet baby had not had an easy life. It was clear that there was a history of trauma present and she needed time to decompress and settle in. Despite a rough past filled with abuse, this sweet baby still wanted to trust someone! She was guarded, however, she followed us around and did her best to find her place in the family. The sadness in her eyes and face and the tenderness and caution in her step was a daily reminder that her life had been anything other than carefree. Despite her previous challenges, she approached each day as a new beginning and another day towards leaving her past life in the past. She has found her place in the pack and enjoys gentle play with the other dogs. She absolutely loves the resident kitty ("Oliver") and initiates playtime with him on a regular basis. She absolutely loves toys and will gather them in a pile where she wants to lay. She feels safe in her new environment, however, she requires a slow, gentle approach when she needs to be picked up. As terrified as she has been, she has never offered a snap. She will, however, scream if she is grabbed too quickly or without her knowledge. She is doing great with her housebreaking and loves being part of a family! She will need a home without children and would LOVE someone to be home with her most of the time! She has been wronged by someone and still has so much love to offer! She is a very special girl and is looking for a very special home! She deserves the best life for her remaining years! We believe that this special baby was actually sexually abused and we are determined to see that she is spoiled every day going forward! She is now a healthy weight and weighs about 15 lbs. She is spayed, current on all her vaccines, including rabies, is microchipped, and her adoption fee is $350.

If you feel you may be a good candidate for this special baby, you may email us at cowgirlvalerie@hotmail.com or text (623)210-6711. Please, only inquiries serious of providing a FOREVER life for her!
