Lacey von Leisnig"'s Story

Lacey von Leisnig is a gorgeous 12 month old German Shepherd. She comes out of her kennel calmly, ready to start her walk, and she is great on leash. She shows a medium-energy level. Lacey walks nicely next to you in a heel position, enjoys meeting people and dogs passing by, and does well as part of a doggie group-walk. She is one sweet love bug with an easygoing personality, who likes to just hang out by your side while you pet her all over. She loves to please, knows her “Sit” command and is treat-motivated, taking treats gently. She also does great in playgroups, entering them comfortably, as the great greeter and mingler she is. She definitely is a social and friendly girl, but loves her people so much that she frequently goes to ask the humans for petting. You might be just one application away from making this gem yours! Westside German Shepherd Rescue of LA's Adoption Policy
We require an application first so we can show you dogs who might be right for your home. We know our dogs and once we get to know you better, we can help you select your next family member! Based on our experience, Westside’s current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are “softer” and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor. We are not placing dogs into apartments/condos/townhouses at this time. Almost all of our dogs come from the Central Valley and are used to space; it is harder for them to adjust to apartment living, but please check local animal shelters, there are always plenty of dogs available for adoption! COVID UPDATE: ADOPTION DAYS & HOURS Please refer to our website for the most accurate and up to date information. ******* Pre-approved applicants only ******* ADOPTION DAYS ******* Pre-approved applicants only ******* Although our adoption hours remain the same, due to the COVID-19 situation, we are only showing dogs to PRE-APPROVED applicants. If you have submitted an on-line application but have not been approved by our volunteer, please do NOT come down to meet dogs as we won't be able to show you any. Our main priority right now is to keep our staff, volunteers and you healthy during these difficult times. No on-site screening at this time. Once approved and told to come meet dogs, we will be happy to help you. If you're just "shopping around", please apply at a later time. Thank you for understanding and for opening your homes to one of our deserving dogs! ****** NOTE: WE DO NOT HAVE PUPPIES AT OUR ADOPTIONS! ****** ***** THEY ARE ALL IN FOSTER HOMES! ***** Puppies of certain ages are unavailable for out of state adoption. Please refer to our website for the most accurate and up to date information.
