Adoption Policy

Westside German Shepherd Rescue has never had so many beautiful, social dogs waiting for homes. We work hard to get to know each of them and prepare them for the next chapter in their lives. We spend time with them every day—training them, letting them socialize in playgroups, taking them on outings and big group walks, or just having them sit calmly with a volunteer. The care and love we give these dogs is apparent in their pictures, which capture both their beauty and their unique personalities. We are always excited to help find the perfect dog for you. The process starts with an application so we can get to know you. A friendly volunteer will contact you, and once you are approved to adopt, you can visit the rescue on any of our adoption days, where our experienced counselors will introduce you to the dogs. We provide as much guidance as you need, and we always work hard to ensure the dog you choose is a great fit for your family. This means making sure the dog gets along well with your other pets, matches the energy level of your children, and fits your lifestyle regarding exercise and training. There is nothing quite like that special moment when adopters find their next family member and their faces just light up! OUT OF STATE ADOPTERS: To those of you who are out of state: We have successfully placed many new family members all over the US and Canada. We love our out-of-state adopters! Our area has such an abundance of incredible dogs but not enough local homes, so we take extra care with our out-of-state adopters who rely on us from afar to find a great fit. We will happily create videos of the dogs we suggest—showing them playing with other dogs, meeting cats, walking on a leash, or demonstrating commands they know—whatever you need to see to help you make the right choice for your situation. When it's time for transport, we will be right there to help find the safest, most cost-effective way to get your new dog home to you. Please fill out an applicatio
