Lacey's Story

Meet Lacy: Your “Whatever We’re Doing, I’m In” Kind of Girl

Lacy is the kind of dog who checks the vibe and happily goes along with it. Playing? Great. Resting? Cool. A cozy morning at home followed by a walk in the woods? That might be her dream day.

Estimated to be 2–4 years old, Lacy has a low-to-medium energy style that’s all about matching her people. She’s equally content snuggling on the couch, getting outside and exploring, or uietly observing while you go about your day. Her signature move: soft snoring during naps.

Lacy at a Glance
• Age: 2–4 years
• Energy level: Low–medium (expert at reading the room)
• House-trained: Yes — impressively so
• Good with: Dogs, kids, people, dinner party guests
• Commands: “Sit,” “Come,” responds well to “No”
• Favorite activities: Sniff walks, treat scavenger hunts, belly rubs, snuggles

What Life With Lacy Looks Like:
Lacy is a polite housemate who greets guests calmly- no jumping, no barking, and no begging at the dinner table (she’s classy like that). She loves company and truly shines when friends are over, happily soaking in the social energy while remaining gentle and well-mannered.

She’s a smart, eager-to-please girl who responds beautifully to gentle guidance and enjoys enrichment games, especially scavenger hunts for treats, where she’ll look to you for clues (she understands a finger point to the hiding spot) and loves a team celebration of snuggles once she finds all the treats- little cheddar shreds are her favorite! She enjoys a few minutes of tug-o-war with long plushies, but is happy to move on to sniffy explorations.

On walks, Lacy prefers quiet streets and woodsy trails where she can take her time enjoying slow, thoughtful sniff walks. Loud, close traffic isn’t her favorite, give her a peaceful path and she’s right at home.

Lacy does not enjoy crate time. Because she forms strong, loving bonds with her people, she’ll need a bit time acclimating to being home alone, but once she feels safe and assured that you are coming back, she settles into naps or comfy relaxation time on the couch.

Affection Level: Expert
Lacy is a true snuggle professional. She adores belly rubs, ear scratches, paw massages, and quiet moments curled up with her favorite humans. She knows “sit,” is working on “stay,” and will absolutely thrive with someone who enjoys continuing gentle, patient, relationship-based learning.

Her Ideal Home:
Lacy would be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a deep, loving bond. She’s a dog who wants to be part of your life, your routines, and your quiet moments. She’ll do best with adopters who value connection, patience, and companionship over constant activity. If you’re looking for a dog who will meet you where you are, love you deeply, and happily join you for whatever the day brings, Lacy is ready to be your girl. Lacey dos have some separation anxiety so will need a house with another dog to keep her company.

Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email adoptadog@STAF.org for next steps! ***

• All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots.
• We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting.
• You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF.
• Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences.
• We do request vet and personal references.
• We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter
