We will change his status to adopted when he is adopted.

*We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety and welfare of our dogs. We are all volunteers and have jobs, families, pets of our own to care for. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog.

*You must be approved to adopt Kyro before we schedule a meet and greet. We do not transport our dogs.

*AGE: 3 1/2 years old (born December 2022)

*WEIGHT: 57 lbs.

*FENCE REQUIREMENT: a physical fence and a yard are required as we feel these would best set him up for success. He needs the freedom of a fenced yard to run and play. No electronic or invisible fences will be allowed.

*COAT TYPE: soft curly low-shedding coat. He will need regular brushing and grooming every 8-10 weeks to keep his coat from matting (approximately $120/groom). He was shaved down recently; you can see a photo of his longer hair in his photos.

*ENERGY LEVEL: Mixed energy level - playful and calm. He can be playful, he can be calm, he matches his person's energy. He loves his daily walks and loves getting more than one walk a day as well as playing in the yard.

*DOGS: Yes he is good with other dogs! He would likely enjoy a young fun dog to play with but we dont think he needs another dog in his foster home if his owner(s) is home frequently.

*CATS: unknown; he has not had any exposure to cats in his foster home.

*KIDS: Yes! Any child should be OK around a large dog who could accidentally knock little ones over in his exuberance. He lived with a 1 year old in his prior home and was very gentle with him. He was around older kids and he just wanted to play with them and get love.

*CAR: He's done well in the car! He loves it!

*CRATE: he is crate trained and sleeps in the crate at night and is crated when his foster family isnt home.

*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes! He has had no accidents in the house!

*LEASH: he is good for the most part. Will pull if he smells something and wants to get to it, or is excited. He needs a little guidance with pulling.

*AT VET: great! He is really such a good dog!

*WITH GROOMING: His prior owner said that he is good at the groomer and everyone loved him. His foster family bathed him and he let them do everything without moving. He let them wash him and blow dry him and stayed still as can be.

Kyro is a 3 1/2 year old, 57 lb. male Labradoodle who was surrendered to IDOG by his family who loved him very much. The child in the prior home was recently diagnosed with dog allergies.

Here is what Kyro's foster family has to say about him:

Kyro is a gentle soul, a sweetheart through and through, and has an excellent temperament. He is super sweet; he will come lay his head on my lap when I'm sitting down, or sit by my feet. He truly is a special dog and is incredibly smart and so affectionate. There is not one aggressive or malicious bone in his body. We go out for walks and dogs will bark at him and he doesn't even bark back.

He is a bit skittish sometimes with certain things. He can be a bit skittish around men initially and comes around quickly. If he is out for a walk, sometimes he'll see something that will scare him or make him jump, but he snaps out of it. He is a counter surfer so he needs to be watched when there is food on the counters that he can reach. He only barks if he's trying to protect, for example, he barks at the landscapers and sometimes when we're out for a walk he will bark at someone running (only if they're running toward us).

We feel the ideal type of home for Kyro is:
-He could be the only dog, or have a fun doggy companion.
-Ideally someone that is home more often than not, as he loves company and will be your shadow.

Adjectives that describe Kyro:
Calm
Gentle
Playful
Fearful of some men
Skittish a little bit
Snuggly
Happy
Submissive
Affectionate

Activities he enjoys:
walking
hiking
running
cuddling
meeting new people
playing with other dogs

A few needs work items for Kyro:
-jumps on people especially when excited
-counter surfer
-can be a bit skittish of men initially and afraid of new things; with continued socialization and exposure to the world we think he will become more confident.

After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.

Kyro is neutered, microchipped, current on core vaccines (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies), dewormer, and heartworm/flea tick preventives. He is heartworm and fecal negative. He did have a yeast infection in his ears and it is being treated with ear medication.

ADOPTION FEE: $600 adoption fee

ADOPTION FEE EXPLANATION:
Puppies and highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting and expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are very high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board and train costs, medical/health issues and surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees and our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.
TO APPLY FOR KYRO-FLORIDA, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application

IDOG Rescue, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
BEFORE YOU APPLY Please consider all aspects before applying to adopt a dog. Rescue dogs usually come with a few issues and we prefer applicants that have realistic expectations and dog experience. We prefer a physical fence in most cases but will consider this on a case by case basis. Please read through all the information on our website before completing the application. To adopt one of our dogs you MUST first complete our online application. We do require an interview. In addition, a home visit will be required. We only adopt dogs to families who will keep them as inside pets. If you are not willing to work with your new rescue dog and let them get to know you at their own pace, please don't apply for one of our dogs. Returning a dog within 24-48 hours of picking it up is hard on the dog. Rescuing a dog is a lifetime commitment and if you give your all, you will get a great friend in return. They need time and patience. WHO WE ARE IDOG Rescue is a national U.S. foster-based not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public charity organization and has remained in good standing with the IRS since 2006 when IDOG was created. IDOG has been offering rescue and rehome services to Doodles, Standard Poodles and Poodle mixes since 2006. We have helped over 3,700 Doodles and Poodles to date. IDOG Rescue was the first specific rescue for Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and is endorsed by both the Australian Labradoodle Association of America and the Goldendoodle Association of America. IDOG is an approved Rescue Partner in shelters across the country and has an outstanding reputation for helping Doodles in need, no matter what color, age or health status. LOCATION OF DOGS IDOG has dogs in foster homes all over the U.S. Please see the location listed in the dog's name (for example, Toby-TX is located in a foster home in TX). In most instances, you will be required to live within driving distance of where the dog is located and to visit the dog in person. IDOG does not ship or transport dogs unless this option is stated in the listing. Shipping is stressful on the dog, and stressful for the volunteer who has to spend many hours preparing the dog and the paperwork, transporting and waiting at airports. It is not simply a matter of paying the shipping charge. We will only ship a dog if we cannot find it a home near where it is being fostered. ADOPTION FEES All of our IDOGs have an adoption fee that is non-negotiable and non-refundable. OUR ADOPTION FEES RANGE FROM $100 - $750 depending on the dog. We will require the adoption fee be paid prior to or when we transfer the IDOG to its new family. The adoption fee helps IDOG with the expenses related to the care of all of the dogs in our program and is not directly tied to the expenses incurred for that particular dog. Adoption fees allow IDOG to continue doing our life-saving work as we are 100% dependent upon adoption fees and donations to cover the costs of the dogs in our care. Each dog is assessed individually to determine the adoption fee. It currently costs IDOG an average of over $400 for basic vet, grooming, and foster care on each dog; that does not allow for the ones who get sick, need surgery, have special needs, or are heartworm positive. Adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter, core vaccines, fecal test/dewormer, heartworm testing, heartworm/flea/tick prevention and microchipping. All IDOGS are evaluated by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption. HOW TO APPLY To apply for any of our dogs, please complete the application on our website: http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application REHOMING ASSISTANCE - FOR FAMILIES WHO NEED TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOODLE/POODLE IDOG Rescue also provides assistance and support for people who need to find a new home for their family pet - our motivation is to get these dogs into homes that understand the temperaments and needs of these energetic, playful & loving dogs.
