IF INTERESTED IN ADOPTING KYLIE, YOU WILL NEED TO FILL OUT AN APPLICATION WITH "CAIRN RESCUE USA" at https://cairnrescueusa.com/adoption-application/

ONCE APPROVED FOR ADOPTION RUDY'S NEW OWNER MUST TRAVEL (BY GROUND; NO FLYING!) TO THE FOSTER HOME IN FENTON MICHIGAN TO FINALIZE THE ADOPTION. Kylie will excel in a home with a “mostly at home”, terrier-experienced single or couple who want to shower a fun-loving little girl with attention but who can also provide structure at the same time. A fenced yard is a definite plus.
If that sounds like you, READ ON…

This purebred Westie gal might be a senior citizen but she is anything but “old”. She loves to play in the snow and even when she’s by herself, she stays entertained by playing with her toys.

Weighing in at 17 lbs., Kylie enjoys going out for leashed walks, however, she will sometimes bark at other dogs and lunge at cars as they go by. Her foster mom has worked on this behavior and has made real progress. Her future owners should be prepared to continue to reinforce good walking etiquette.

Kylie is a very secure and confident gal and like many terriers, she has a “take charge” attitude. Her future owners should be terrier experienced and be able to set ground rules and stick to them. For instance, Kylie will sometimes try to stand on her foster mom’s lap when not invited; “foster mom” gives her a firm “no” and requires her to get off and “sit”. Likewise, she is not allowed up on the bed unless invited. Kylie responds well to these positive corrections and providing structure and maintaining criteria will make her a better housemate and companion.

There is a male dog in Kylie's foster home and she gets along with him very well. However, prior to coming into our rescue she was an “only”, living with an elderly couple and this would be the ideal fit for her. She does get along with children so a scenario where there are visiting grandchildren on occasion (who are respectful of dogs) would be fine. A home with a cat would NOT be recommended.

At night, Kylie sleeps in a crate with the door open. This crate is HER safe spot and needs to be respected. She will “act out” if someone were to try and pull her out.

Kylie is completely potty trained and goes outside to do her business. However, her foster mom is religious about getting her out every 2 to 3 hours (her last outing for the night at 10:30 p.m. ) so she requires a family that has an adult home for the vast majority of the day.

Kylie is up-to-date on all vaccinations, is spayed and she recently had a dental. Her future family must have a good track-record of veterinary care in order to adopt.
